Guest guest
I may have missed something here, but it occurs to me that R/M has failed to make a profit nor break even because it bid the contract at less than the cost of performance. Its management probably engaged in that sort of " fuzzy economics " that says you can cut, slash, and burn within the organization to make it work. Also, please remember that the management types in an organization like R/M never suffer from their mistakes. In fact, when they get fired they've got golden parachutes and simply go away and turn up at another Stoutian service at an inevitably more grossly outrageous salary. They then have an average of 2-3 years in which to run the company into the ground, piss everybody off, and make another move. Who says reincarnation doesn't happen? A good example of what I'm talking about is the late president of Sunbeam, who rode into town vowing to make the dead horse trot. The horse refused and the president got fired. Poor baby. His annuity is more than the total income I will ever earn during my working life. Would somebody please hire me to ruin their company? I'll work cheap. Just give me 20 million in severance packages and I'll swoop away in the night in my Learjet. Gene Gandy Gene Gandy

Guest guest
But, RM is the one who bid the contract for this amount of money. They had enough experience with their other services that they knew they were underbidding the actual costs! They knew when they bid the contract what the board expected of them, so why did they not bid it correctly? They just wanted AMR out the door. Take care, stay safe, and practice mercy, ya'll!! Guest guest
RM and AMR bid the RFP at almost the same price. RM was only slightly under. Many things have changed since the inception of the RFP.

Guest guest
Bullseye Gene. Why do you persist in making points more clearly than most of us can. It ain't democratic! Guest guest
Jana, you are right. R/M under bid just so that they coul push AMR out of that area and get the contract. But, R/M does have a reputation of underbidding contracts so that they can get them.
