I thought all the dietary restrictions (eg, not eating aged cheeses, which can

contain tyramine) had been removed by the FDA. You could check either the FDA

website or a website such as rxlist.com.

A movement disorder specialist (type of neurologist) would definitely know the

answer. These people prescribe Azilect (rasagiline) all the time. Is that who

prescribed this medication or was it a general neurologist (who is less likely

to be up on this medication)?

tyramine free diet due to this drug. Is this accurate information? What is

other people's experience with this, both the diet and the drug?

Azliect diet?

My husband is starting on Azilect next weekend. I have read that he needs a

tyramine free diet due to this drug. Is this accurate information? What is

other people's experience with this, both the diet and the drug?

I'm aware of no special warnings regarding the interaction of Azilect

(rasagiline) and " dementia drugs " (AChEIs or Namenda). Azilect is not

dopaminergic therapy, so it's different from many PD drugs (such as Sinemet).

There is some evidence that Azilect slows the progression of PD. This is why

many neurologists prescribe this medication.

There are few side effects.

has be be very carefully taken. Most people like to use the dementia drugs

instead. I have not heard of any diet that goes with it. ....
