,

I work at a school for severely emotionally disturbed kids. I see

first hand every day the effects of psychiatry and the pills they

push. YOu are making a very wise choice. As it pertains to the

school district the first thing I would do if I were you would be to

inform myself as much as possible. For instance, it wasn't too long

ago that posted a study here that showed quite clearly how

treating ADHD symptoms by natural means is more effective than

Ritalin and doesn't have the obvious side effects or dangers of

Ritalin. It is a scientific study.

My experience in the public and non-public sector of education

really tells me that what you are dealing with is not unique. It is

happening all over the country. Remember that with school districts

the vast majority of them know very little about not only the nature

of these drugs, but the alternatives. Educate them while you educate

yourself. That could have a good ripple effect anyways. I would

begin with the teacher and the principal. The school psychologist is

probably a waste of time in the sense that I am sure she has been

brainwashed. Try suggesting to her that it isn't even a disease, but

symptoms of something else and see what happens. I also would seek

counsel. School districts deal in bottom lines and if you come in

well-informed(their worst nightmare) and with legal counsel(someone

who specialized in this area) then I am sure an agreeable solution

will be found. Let me know if I can help in any way. God bless,

Casey

Thanks Casey,

I'll find out in Sept. how things are probably going to go. I may need to ask you lots of questions then. I know when (my son) is off the Metadate he is energetic, compassionate, happy go lucky child, plays with other kids and when he is on the Medadate he is not the same child he is withdrawn, doesn't socialize, whispers to himself almost incessantly (which worries me), stares into space, and worries and talks about these fears of death and dying. He's just turn 7 yrs old two weeks ago he doesn't need to be thinking about dying. He has obsessive thoughts. He is a totally different child on the meds. Even though he does have behavior difficulties when off the meds, Changing his eating habits, giving him supplements, staying away from the foods he is allergic to, and enforcing better disciplinary actions consistently (which my husband and I are getting better at) should help control his behavior

problems. He really is a caring and pleasant child and I want to see this part of him come out more.

would be able to help in the specifics about eating and

supplements and all that. However, I will say that you were dead on

the spot as it pertains to discipline. Consistency is of profound

importance and lost on most parents who try to appease their

children in the short-term, which in turn does more long-term

damage. Consistently enforcing never wavering rules and guidelines

will go a long ways towards helping your son. Not being consistent

only creates more confusion and in turn more symptoms. As it relates

to your dealings with the school district, please feel free to email

me at mcpark@... and I'll help any way I can. All the best,

Casey

Consistency is extremely important, but diet is equally as important.

Sugar is poison to these kids, as are artificial flavors, colors,

sweeteners, MSG, etc. And give him fish oil, fish oil, fish oil!
