HI again, :)

regarding HPV

First of all HPV (human papilloma virus) is NOT painful typically unless one were to have a visible wart that was constantly irritated or so large it's in the way. So I cannot see how any doctor would say that's the cause of Vulvodynia, and all the recent studies say there is no connection to VV. (althought it's so prevalent in the population they may both show up at the same time) and why the mistaken idea.

2nd. of the almost 100 types of HPV,, only a few have the DNA that are precursorers to cervical cancer. Most are as harmless as a wart on your finger. To prevent worry of cervical cancer, ask your doctor to 'type' it to see which type you may have, but the odds are almost nil that it's one of the precancerous types. Also if ones immune system is functioning and healthy they may not have any symptoms of HPV yet be carriers and why often one partner may have it and had it all their life and not the other, as it's either dormant or they've built up a resistance to that particular type the partner has.

3rd. If any of you have had a positive pap test, 'most' typically (not all) they ''are' caused by the HPV virus whether you have any warts or not, because it can be microscopic. So a doctor telling you you have HPV is not the end of the world, and it's not this horribly sexually contagious disease that doctors and the media have thrown out with such fear to us as women. (by the way that's why I won't let a doctor do a leep/loop without me knowing first if it's one of those 'bad' types of HPV DNA. no need to, OR god forbid use those acids like poldophylin etc.) if it's not necessary!

4th. Statistics now claim that approx 65% of the population carries it whether one has a physical manifestion or not. You can be reinfected if you have a different partner, but it will be with a different type of HPV DNA... a different variety most likely.

5th. We ususally build up an immunity to it, and once we have this virus, it's 'always' with us, (and why it can come back after those leep/loops) but we typically do build up an immunity as the antibodies go to work. Much like having measles or chicken pox.. (virus's as well) we'll always have the HPV virus within us but our own immune system controls it so we don't have outbreaks, unless our immune system becomes weak once again.

that's it,.. my two cents again. *chuckle*

warmest, Dee~

Hi everyone,

I have heard from several holistic practitioners that taking an extra 800 mg

of folic acid with a daily multi vitamin is good for the cervix with regards

to dysplascia and HPV. I have recently read that bromelain, a natural

enzyme, when taken on an empty stomach, can help reduce inflammation in the

body. I have been taking the folic acid and my last two pap tests have been

normal. Prior ones, when my vv was raging, came back showing inflammation.

Taking a supplement of L-cysteine (an amino acid) was also mentioned to be

helpful with HPV.
