That date is true. It will be sold in the USA by Sony Home

Video. I have the Brazilian and Australian DVds and both are better

than what will come out in the USA. They have a scene which was

deleted from the USA version. The American DVD is also being sold by

Future Horizons which will be selling it probably in mid-november at

its conferences or wherever it is the bookseller.

The Australian DVD also has a thirty minute long documentary on

how the movie was made; a collection of interviews on the set with

me, the cast, producers, writer and director. You can order that on

the net but you need a player that can handle DVDs from another

region of the world.

Heh! I watched the movie, still have it, gonna watch it again.

I wasn't sure what to say about it, NEED to watch it again,

because the first time, I kinda felt like a voyeur, looking in

on your personal life. Yeah, I know, it's just a movie, and

not really true-to-life, but....I don't know what's true and

what isn't. I've never seen a movie based on someone I (sorta)

know before, and I just got lost wondering what was true and

what wasn't. But the overall effect was good, I think, it's a

good movie. I hope the real-life characters have a happy ending!

I went to the Amazon website, and read the reviews, and the first one

kinda scared me off. Bad habit, I tend to believe things are true because

somebody said it. Now I don't want to buy it, because I'm worried I'll

tie up money in it and hate it. I don't want to sign up for Netflix just

to get it, because then I've got Netflix, and I don't know any other

movies I care enough to watch. And besides, if I rent it through Netflix

and -do- like it, I gotta send it back.

Anybody else read that first review on Amazon and have a counter-review to

provide?

" purchase suggestions " option. That way, the movie would be bought

and you would get to see it.

I just saw Mozart and the Whale last night. I had picked it up three

days before, and besides not having a whole lot of free time to view

it, I wanted my husband to see it, too. At the same time, I was

worried about what he would think, that he wouldn't recognize anything

about me in the movie's characters, and that'd I'd be back in " limbo "

again. I KNOW I am on the spectrum, but many don't believe me as they

don't know enough about it and don't listen to me when I explain the

whole wide spectrum. My husband, even though he always said he knew

there was something different about me and would say he believed me,

was on the fence about the whole thing.

But since he saw the movie he really sees it now! He even saw bits of

himself! I'm so relieved, I can't tell you. And extremely thankful!

I loved the movie and it's characters, by the way. It wasn't that I

related to just one, but bits of everybody. I laughed, I cried, lol.

I'm going to buy a copy when I get the cash, probably when Blockbuster

sells off previously viewed copies, which is usually how I get my dvds.

I know, because acknowleging that you have a real disability puts the onus

on them to be more tolerant and accomodating. They'd rather be able to get

mad at you if you don't (re)act the way you 'should'.

What I found interesting is looking back at what I saw in M & tW and

thinking how normal it looked, and how it wouldn't have looked normal

to people who aren't autistic.

I mean it's like if you see something all the time it looks normal,

like it fades into the background, but if you don't see it all the

time it looks REALLY IMPORTANT and SIGNIFICANT. Like the way

walks. So? He's walking. I watched the video with the " directors

comments " or whatever turned on and he points out how the leading man

had learned to walk that way.... akwardly. It just looked like

walking to me before it was pointed out that it was odd walking.

I missed the point where bangs his head on this glass wall, I

might have looked away when he banged his head (it's very quick) but I

might have seen it and not registered it as odd. I noticed afterward

he has this bandage on his forehead, so I went back and looked again

to see where he might have banged his head on something.

I like how they emphasized 's lack of eye contact and his math

abilities, and I like that even though Isabel is a hairdresser, her

hair is frequently messy.

Well, I'm glad I was a (marginal) part of that. Most of family and their

response is like the parable associated with " a prophet is without honor

in his own home. " Since my family has known me since I was I was a child

(and spake as a child, and believed as a child), they think they already

know who I am and everything about me. That's the threshhold of belief I

need to overcome. So to hear that people actually Get It, that's

comforting. Because based on the reviews on the website, well ...

I need Weapons of Mass Understanding to deal with my own family, who will

otherwise blame themselves for me after all turning out to be Myself. I

have a rediculous expectation for most AS-related content, including this.

Unfair, sure, you-damn-betcha. But I won't go into the battle of my life

half-armed.

You can't imagine -- or maybe you can -- how helpful this input is to me.

I need a tool, arguably a crowbar, to convey to those who have known me

all my life and set in stone their understanding of me, that I am who I

am, and that yes, this is how I work, and isn't about them, and it isn't

about how they don't have to feel guilty, because it is what it is, so

it's okay, but I am still even so who I am, and that's okay, too.

I went back to pick up this older post you wrote last week.

Wanted to let you know that NetFlix is advertising a free trial

membership right now at http://trynetflix.com I think that's

the URL for it. NetFlix has different deals, too. You can get

a membership for 5.95 a month (limited to 2 or 3 movies per mo),

or 10.95 for one-at-a-time with no monthly limit, or other deals,

two-at-a-time or three-at-a-time. I get the one-at-a-time deal.

They make it really easy to browse genres, or to check out all

the movies any particular actor has made. I don't mean to sound

like a commercial, but you can cancel anytime, so there's no

reason not to accept a FREE trial membership, unless you don't

have a DVD player. Oh yeah, and every time you send a movie

back to them, you get an email asking you to rate it. (That

way, they learn what you like, and know what to offer you). And

whenever you say you Really like a movie, they offer to sell it

to you. I get all my movies that way now, and save a fortune on

theatre tickets, pop, and popcorn. ;-) Much quieter at home, too!

Please excuse my tardiness in replying... " Mozart " is the lead female

character, and has Aspergers, just recently diagnosed in the movie.

The " Whale " is the lead male, also has Aspergers.

I just ordered the movie two days ago from Amazon and it came today.

Guess I must really like it, it's only the third movie I've ever

ordered via mail. I like the story, not just because it's about

autistic people...I think, lol...haven't viewed it yet for the 2nd

time, we'll see...
