Guest guest
Hello everyone, I have resisted bringing up this symptom my husband is suffering from as it is a bit personal, however, he is quite miserable and I don't know where else to turn. This " list " is a good source for information, and thus, I am turning to you. We desperately need some help! My husband who has been diagnosed with LBD, is still doing fairly well, and functioning with life fairly well. I do have to monitor him due to his lack of mental thought processing but on the whole, things are going okay... not great, but livable. The problems is, he is having intense intestinal pain. He has been suffering with it for about a year. He often comes in the house and sits and naps to relieve the pain. He states that he feels bloated. He is wearing suspenders, leaving his jeans unhooked and only partially zipped. He is in enough pain that he flinches if he thinks I am going to touch his tummy. He has more of a pot belly than he used to have, though he has lost maybe 10 pounds. He has seen a urologist, specialty doctors, and he has had upper GI and lower GI scoping. He has been tested and looked over thoroughly. The doctors are stumped. They can't find anything more to suggest or try. Some history: It was hard to convince him of the needed to take more fiber. Even when he was plugging the plumbing, he fought my intervention and stated he had no problem. After visits to several different doctors, he is finally listening and doing something for constipation, which I feel was fairly severe. (I'm not a doctor, just his wife.) With both of his doctors insistence, for the past 6 months, he regularly takes extra fiber (2 types daily) and stool softeners. He is taking probiotics... good ones. He has been on a gluten free diet for 2 months to see if this will help. We are now thinking of seeing a dietitian to see if further diet change might help. We have been told it can take 6 months for the intestines to recover from damage. I have even thought of taking him to the Chinese Herbalist (?) to see what comes of that. I know we aren't doctors, but, can anyone give us any ideas or thoughts? What else can we look at as a source of the problem? Thank you to all.... this is a great place for information...
