New DR/Tx options

Hi girls....

Just thought I'd update my situation. I went to a new ob/gyn today.

(Recommended by a friend who just had a baby) She was great! Although she

wasn't a specialist, she was very familiar w/ VV and TX options. She

surprised me!! I brought all these internet printouts for her but she was

telling me the things I knew about it!! So anyways, after handing in the 7

page questionnaire (that I had filled out at home) she talked w/ me in the

examining room w/ my clothes ON!

After talking about my whole 7 yr history of vaginal problems and treatments

I've been on, she recommended me to go see the specialist I'd seen last May.

Dr. Hope Haefner at the U-of-M Vulvar Clinic. She said she actually refers

her patients there! She also gave me a RX for topical Lidocaine. Anyone

used this? Is it weird?? She then did a pap and a breast exam and a regular

culture for candida. She said everything internally looked normal...just a

little red at the vestibule. She also did the Q-tip test which was positive,

of course.

She recommended relationship counseling, which I reallllllly want to do but I

have low expectations of my fiance. He's very private.

She also confirmed that I should stay on Loestrin (BC pill)

...that she's doubtful that it's contributing to my problem.

So that's it ..not really any progress, but I made an appt at U-of-M for

March 2nd.

But I've actually been doing better lately. Intercourse hurts for pretty

much just the 1st 5 minutes...then it slowly diminishes. I'm learning to

relax more.

And I've been using Estrace about 3 x's a week. I think it may slightly and

slowly be helping.

Dr. Roy (my new ob/gyn) suggested Corticosteroid cream (short-term) or

interferon injections...some treatments I haven't tried yet.

But she definitely advised against Surgery!!

Hope everyones doing better!!

Jodi :)
