Guest guest
amy What I meant by the sphincter sitting open all the time is that in my layman's understanding is that with an NG tube down the esophagus all day and night (we left our child's down instead of several times a day having to replace it) is that the sphincter would not have a chance to close, right? How could it close all the way with an NG tube there? So it would sit open. I wonder what the permanent repercussions are to that. The fact that so many CHARGErs have reflux for years past their infancy I think says a lot. My dog has calcium deposits on her eyes. The dr says she can still see around them. I don't know more than that. We did have a major discussion on the list about a year before you joined about retinal detachment being a big risk for those with colobomas but because Caitlyn doesn't have colobomas I don't remember what signs to look for so I hope other CHARGE parents will jump in here. Caitlyn is doing well other than always being sick. Her speech is coming along real well, and I think of you from time to time knowing how much it was music to your ears to hear her speak. Last week she said " Mom, you are a GENIUS! " because while she was looking at a picture of corn on her corn flakes box she asked why the picture was there--I told her that corn flakes comes from corn. So she called me a genius. It made me so happy! Jeanne __________________________________________________
