Guest guest
Thanks so much Robin for this summary of the talk on grief - and thank you also for all the many research papers and information you share so often with the group. Another book I have recently read on grief is " Nothing was the Same " by Kay Redfield Jamison (Professor of Psychiatry at the s Hopkins University School of Medicine) - which is her journey of caring for her husband who dies from cancer. The flypaper says " with her characteristic honesty, candour, wit and simplicity, she describes his death, her own long, difficult struggle with grief, and her efforts to distinguish grief from depression. Kay Jamison has bipolar illness and has already written about this in her book " Unquiet Mind " . I also went hunting on the internet for the poem " Friends " and found it here http://www.docstoc.com/docs/19816993/SEVEN-WAYS-TO-HELP-WHEN-SOMEONE-DIES Friends You don't need to say you're sorry It's written in your face I know you share my sadness By the warmth of your embrace. Don't try to justify the " why " , Or " how " this came to be Or explain away the mystery Of death's reality. Just know that more than any words The thing I hold most dear Is the friendship in your handshake And the fact that you are here Bruce H.
