May not sound like much, but for a kid who can't motor plan worth beans, it's " Big Deal " level stuff... Raena >> We went through that with Abbie about 2 months ago. I would have to push her...a couple of weeks later, she could pedal on straightaways....now she goes up hill too... She got strong real quick. Guest guest
Wow! That is a very big deal! Did you teach him or did he just do it one day on his own? That's what I'm learning with . I can't make her do anything, then suddenly out of the blue she'll do it herself. That is awesome! Tracey

Raena: It sounds like a lot to me; it sounds great and I am delighted to hear of 's achievement. Give him a hug for me, um, how tactilely defensive is he anyway? Someone once told me to give Enrique and hug and I did. He was stiff and startled, obviously not happy about it! Salli
Guest guest
That's great! Have you tried him on the tricycle since he started pedaling the big bike? Guest guest
--Raena, It's a big deal for most autistic kids (he has cdd to boot), so Id say its a MAJOR accomplishment. WOW. Guest guest
It *is* Big Deal stuff! I remember when learned to do it...I was ecstatic! It all comes in time; there was a time when I thought he'd never ride a bike. We're about to try taking the training wheels off of his big boy bike, maybe right after Xmas... Syd (he's 3) is right where was at 3. Hand on hand, pushing his feet with the pedals...but at least I know he'll get it eventually. Way to go ! > Guess what? , who was only twice able to make a tricycle " go " > without just scooting along with his feet on the sidewalk, can now > pedal our stationary bike. Guest guest
Raena, It's definately a big deal! There are a lot of AI kids who can't ride bikes when they are you because of this! That is awesome!>> I didn't teach him...he just sat down this weekend and either taught himself or discovered he could do it. I'm really happy about it, because it is so hard to come up with motor stuff he is interested in doing, and he seems to enjoy this... Guest guest
> > That's great! Have you tried him on the tricycle since he started pedaling the big bike?>> Unfortunately, he's too big for a trike now. I thought about putting some training wheels on one of 's old bikes, but he is so afraid of heights that I worry he'll quit altogether if I mess with what is going on...so I'm just going to let him " work out " in my room. :-) Raena
