Guest guest
Hello can anyone enlighten me as to the effects vitamin c has on cortisol levels. First let me start by saying i had low cortisol levels before starting vit c supplementation, but now my energy level, and staminahas lessened dramatically. I am up to 4000mg of vitc daily,do you guys think this may in fact have something to do with my reduced energy levels? I am going to reduce my vitc intake just to see what happens,is this a good idea? I also take vit b5 100mg,zinc 150mg,magnesium citrate 800mg,vite with selenium 400iu,250mg milk thistle, and astragalus root 470mg,and i drink a cup of licorice root tea in the morning. Guest guest
You may want to try that or it could be coincidental and your condition has become worse. I've never heard of anyone ever feeling worse by increasing C. --- hamerreda3 wrote: > Hello can anyone enlighten me as to the effects > vitamin c has on > cortisol levels. > First let me start by saying i had low cortisol > levels before starting > vit c supplementation, but now my energy level, and > staminahas lessened > dramatically. > I am up to 4000mg of vitc daily,do you guys think > this may in fact > have something to do with my reduced energy levels? > I am going to reduce my vitc intake just to see what > happens,is this a > good idea? > I also take vit b5 100mg,zinc 150mg,magnesium > citrate 800mg,vite with > selenium 400iu,250mg milk thistle, and astragalus > root 470mg,and i > drink a cup of licorice root tea in the morning. > > > > __________________________________________________
Guest guest
What if you try a different Vit C. Some are made from corn, some from potato, some from citrus sources. Check the label. My boyfriend cannot use Vit C made from corn. -- Re: Vitamin c and it's effets on cortisol You may want to try that or it could be coincidental and your condition has become worse. Guest guest
" with citrus bioflavonoids " does not mean the Vit C is made from that, it just means bioflavonoids are added. I would check the label and see if it says " no corn, no wheat, no gluten, no yeast, etc " . If that is the case then it is probably made from potato sources. -- Re: Vitamin c and it's effets on cortisol > > What if you try a different Vit C. Guest guest
I have not been able to confirm this is true, but I have heard that Vitamin C is a vasodilator, so if you have aldosterone and/or vasopressin deficiencies, it could increase orthostatic hypotension and low blood pressure. Again, this is just something I've heard ... maybe someone else can say better.
Guest guest
I do not thing the effects of Vitamin C on the blood vessels would be enough t worry about it increasing hypo tension. The adrenals need vitamin C so it will help them produce the necessary hormones to deal with this. All the doctors that are treating adrenal fatigue properly recommend vitamin C so it must not be harmful. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
How is your sodium level in your serum lab work? Adrenals also need good whole, unrefined salt.(Even IF your sodium level is in range, you should be using the unrefined salt) I find that by taking the two every day...it has increased my energy levels. www.drbrownstein.com " Salt Your Way To Health " Michigan wrote: Hi, You say 400IU of selenium...how does that compare to mgs? > > Hello can anyone enlighten me as to the effects vitamin c has on > cortisol levels. > First let me start by saying i had low cortisol levels before starting > vit c supplementation, but now my energy level, and staminahas lessened > dramatically. > I am up to 4000mg of vitc daily,do you guys think this may in fact > have something to do with my reduced energy levels? > I am going to reduce my vitc intake just to see what happens,is this a > good idea? > I also take vit b5 100mg,zinc 150mg,magnesium citrate 800mg,vite with > selenium 400iu,250mg milk thistle, and astragalus root 470mg,and i > drink a cup of licorice root tea in the morning. > --------------------------------- How low will we go? Guest guest
I had been thinking that when I dose up on Vit C, I get what feels like mini hot flashes. That would explain it.| Also, why do body builders take larges doses of Vit C to reduce cortisol if we are to take it to help adrenals. Has anyone heard of this? -- Re: Vitamin c and it's effets on cortisol I have not been able to confirm this is true, but I have heard that Vitamin C is a vasodilator, so if you have aldosterone and/or vasopressin deficiencies, it could increase orthostatic hypotension and low blood pressure. Guest guest
Hi Robin, I am new here, but I did want to comment on the noise in your ear, if you don't mind. I tried HC last year & it was horrible for me. I don't know what stage of adrenal fatigue I was in at the time, but I was still functioning in society, just a little tired & dizzy. However, I truly believe the HC made me worse. Completely ruined my stomach. And made me more exhausted. I started to also experience that noise you described, like you can hear your pulse in your ear. Mostly at night. My quacky doctor said it was stress & prescribed xanax. I found a naturopathic doctor after that to help me get off the HC. He was very helpful & said that the noise was sign of a fungal infection in the body. After getting off HC & taking anti-fungal herbs (Olive Leaf extract, Oregano oil) the noise stopped completely, thank God, because it was horribly annoying. Now looking back, I know that my stomach was already a little weak, and the HC broke it down even further. I hope anyone who is on HC is taking a good quality probiotic every day. Because it is a medical fact that steriod drugs & antibiotics deplete your good bacteria in your digestive system. Once the good bacteria is gone, the bad stuff can take over, like fungus. Then the fungus can become systematic & attack organs, infect the blood stream, etc. All of you may already know all this, but since I am new & haven't had time to browse much of your old postings, I haven't seen any conversations about it yet. Another thing to note, is other symptoms disappeared as well after doing the fungus clean up, such as joint pain, ringing in the ear, light headedness. Now, I still have the adrenal issue to deal with, as my cortisol tests continue to come back low & I continue to struggle with fatigue & dizziness. But, I cannot do HC, so I stick to the adrenal glandulars. Is there anyone else here like me who only sticks to the natural stuff?
