Guest guest
I have seen several docs regarding hormones, holistic and regular...did blood and saliva, dhea low on both tests, hormones look pretty normal though, both suggested progesterone, due to my bad pms symptoms. Saying this is where they get their best results...both said NO WAY to estrogen, unless just using some as a cream to toughen skin...holistic guy didn't even like that idea. I am not familiar with Christiana Northrup, can you tell me the name of her book. I am thinking of starting the guaifenesin treatment and there are only two progesterones you can use that don't block the drug, so I am investigating those now..So many women on the vulvodynia lists seem to be negative about progesterone and it making things worse...It is quite confusing, as I know progesterone kicks in after ovulation which is when I start getting bad, so then why would the body need more progesterone? My holistic guy said because your body isn't making enough progesterone to offset the excess estrogen..hmmm....? So I guess I will forge on....would love to get rid of the water weight gain, sick of turning into Dolly Parton...literally...on day ten of every month. By the time they go down, I am ovulating again... Jackie
Guest guest
I am thinking of starting the guaifenesin treatment and there are only two progesterones you can use that don't block the drug, so I am investigating those now Hi, I'm Suzette, and I'm new to the group. I've been taking Guai (slowly titrated up to 2400 mg a day for over 10 months now), and it has helped my pain from FMS a lot. I was in horrible pain since 1995 after a whiplash accident (mostly pain in my neck and face and jaws, and eyes, at first) and I got to the point a couple of years ago that I really wouldn't mind if I had died. I don't even think I was depressed.....I was just so tired of hurting. Then the fatigue started in, too, and I sort of vegetated a couple of years. Then we moved and I finally got the Fibromyalgia diagnosis and I started searching online and found the Fibromyalgia sites and found out about guaifenesin. THe Guai protocol is sort of tough at first but now 10 months later I can say the results are worth it! I have had vulvodynia for around 20 years. None of the doctors I knew seemed to really know what that is, but after reading about it I know that's what I have. Dr. St. Amand explains all about vulvodynia in his book. I was so glad (to put it mildly) to see it in there as I have had those symptoms for all that time and the regular doctors and gynecologists and urologists would check me out and say that sex wouldn't hurt if I just did it more often. I always felt sort of like a failure when they would say that. Then I would try to have the excrutiating sex more often and it never would feel better!!!!!!!!! My husband is a wonderful HUNK, too, so that wasn't the reason I didn't want to have sex.... I pretty much gave up on going to those kind of doctors because I felt like I was wasting my time and theirs. Thank heaven for the internet!!!!!!!! BUT, beginning my 10th month of taking Guai all of a sudden I noticed that sex wasn't killing me anymore and my libido came back full force, hee hee....YEAH!!!!!!!! After a few weeks of that (it still hurt a little bit but nothing like the sandpapering and tearing feeling I would have before), I knew that I was starting to get this itching in my vaginal area but I thought maybe if I just kept having sex it would go away. NO it didn't. Just went to doctor yesterday because I couldn't stand the itching anymore and she says I have bacterial vaginosis and prescribed the Metro-Gel for me. ! My libido has dropped back to zero (big surprise, huh?). I'm hoping the Metro-Gel will work and I can get back to having sex again. I have no secrets anymore, LOL. I'm trying to figure out what other things will help so that I don't get worse again. I've been reading all about the oxalate diet, the physical therapy, the creams, and the progesterone and the estrace, and I hardly know where to start first. I do have my white cotton underwear on!!!! I do know from talking to my doctor yesterday that I shouldn't use vasoline for a lubricant. Well, I knew that but it worked so well. My vagina is still so dry!!!!!!!!! Also, I had been using Benedryl cream to keep the itching bearable and she said NOOOOOO to that , too. I really had to get my Fibro pain under better control before I could concentrate on the vulva pain. I know some of you have it so much worse than I do or did and I feel so bad for you. Anyway, my letter has run long. I just wanted to say that I am having a wonderful experience with Guai and I am following the protocol as exactly as I can, and I am here to learn how to help my vulva problems even more than the Guai has already helped them. Love, Suzette (2400 mg Guai for over 10 months now) (should be on the hypoglycemic diet but haven't started it yet)
Guest guest
Progesterone is definitely not always bad. I was put on progesterone for heaving menstrual bleeding and clotting. It was a Godsend. --- JACKSTEE@... wrote: > I have seen several docs regarding hormones, > holistic and regular...did blood > and saliva, dhea low on both tests, hormones look > pretty normal though, both > suggested progesterone, due to my bad pms symptoms. > Saying this is where they > get their best results...both said NO WAY to > estrogen, unless just using some > as a cream to toughen skin...holistic guy didn't > even like that idea. > > I am not familiar with Christiana Northrup, can you > tell me the name of her > book. > > I am thinking of starting the guaifenesin treatment > and there are only two > progesterones you can use that don't block the drug, > so I am investigating > those now..So many women on the vulvodynia lists > seem to be negative about > progesterone and it making things worse...It is > quite confusing, as I know > progesterone kicks in after ovulation which is when > I start getting bad, so > then why would the body need more progesterone? Guest guest
Good luck Jackie 'I still think your physicians or holistic person is wrong about the Progesterone, *sigh* those PMS side effects from all the 'real' legitimate medical information I have 'are' caused by Progesterone and not the Estrogen. Let us know how it goes. Warmest Dee~
Guest guest
Actually taking the benidryl orally will be more helpful and will not irritate the area. I take Atarax (like benidryl only prescription) at night for itching from a dry skin problem. I found that it helps with vaginal itching as well. I take Atarax (like benidryl only prescription) at night for itching from a dry skin problem. Hi, this is Suzette. I already take Benedryl orally.because I started getting hives all over every night about 6 months ago and could never figure out what was causing the continuing problem. I think it's a histamine problem which is pretty common with fibromyalgics. I kept getting the hives when I would get too warm at night while I was sleeping or just laying still. I have been taking one or two Benedryl a night since then and it seems to be helping me not to get the hives. It helps me sleep at night, too. The Benedryl zonks me out so I try not to take it during the day. The Metro-Gel seems to be helping the bacterial vaginosis for now. Thanks, Suzette
