Guest guest
Hi All, Can someone give me advice how safely to change from Predisone to HC? I had a very disappointing dr's visit last week and have been depressed ever since. They messed up my thyroid tests, forgot to put in my age, the test didn't show the correct ranges for my age. So it's basically invalid. On top of that when I complained and told of my worries with the Prednisone side effects(hair is falling out, weight gain, joint pain, insomnia etc) he ignored me and told me my blood pressure was rising and I hold a lot of water. *duh* The Prednisone causes that. So he strictly forbid me to go off the Pred but added water pills. More side effects, water pills cause your blood pressure to drop, and I have orthostatic hypotension, which means if I bent over or stand up from sitting I pass out because the blood can't reach my brain quickly enough. I had this reasonably under control, it's very isolating you can't go anywhere without passing out, but now those water pills lower my blood pressure again. It's so contradicting. Really there are days that I can't see the use in going on. So I picked myself up again and decided that after reading all your emails and the website to switch to HC and Isocort. I called my dr and asked to switch and giving valid reason to do so but he refused. Well though, I'll do it on my own than. So any advice on how to make the switch easily would be appreciated. Right now I'm taking 10mg Prednisone in the morning, 1 pellet Isocort at midday, 5 mg Prednisone in the evening. When I have this adrenal stuff stable I will start on Armour. -- Portland, OR
