Guest guest
Oh gosh, , my heart aches for them!!! Unfortunately, I don't have an answer. That happened to my dad once and I had no choice but to send him to THE worst Nursing Home in the City. It is there that he was injected TWICE with Haldol even though it was written in big red letters on his chart DO NOT ADMINISTER HALDOL! He was rushed to a terrible hospital where after fighting for hours, I was able to take him out of there and into a good hospital. He was admitted to the neurological department and because he was in the neurological dept. he was placed in a good NH. Sometimes it depends on the hospital and what department they're coming from. He was in the geriatric psych unit before being transferred to that nightmare of a NH and because a lot of the nursing homes have had bad experiences with the patients that came from that hospital, the nursing homes would automatically reject anyone coming from there. It's very sad but unfortunately this is what happens. Can she try to get him transferred to another hospital? I had insisted that run more tests/scans and that is how I was able to get him into the neuro dept. and not a psych unit. Tell her I wish her luck and that she and her dad will be in my prayers. from NYC Daughter of Celestino (Tino) Suarez Misdiagnosed for years. Diagnosed with LBD March 2009, but we now know he's had it for at least 4-5 years. God called him home on October 27, 2009. Rest in peace, Daddy. No one will take him because of the risk factors of falling, needing sitter 24/7, and using restraints to keep him in bed. His last fall resulted in broken ribs, punctured lungs, etc. was in ICU, then reg hosp room. Now the ho...sp is anxious for him to be released. Case mgr assigned to help my mom showed no results due to the above. So many hosp staff are uneducated abt LBD. It all feels so helpless. Guest guest
Do NOT take him out of the hospital. The social worker there is supposed to do the discharge planning. Don't let them steamroll you. IF he needs 24 hour awake care then YOU CANNOT do this at home. Don't let them turf him out. You can request a medicare review and I also think you can request a judicial review. Tell them straight up that you CANNOT take him home. Good luck. We just went though something similar to that. It feels like you are up against an army....but stand your ground. Good luck, Nan > > I wouldn't normally do this... but the search tool here isn't working and this woman seems desperate for a response... on the Facebook wall someone posted the following -- I know some of you have experience w/ this... > > " What to do when there are no nursing home facilities to transfer my Dad to from the hospital?
