Guest guest
I think Ive told this List how I lost my good case which gave me 48 hours a week last August, it being outsourced to a Jamaican lady who put an ad in the paper looking for a private duty job. She put in a low bid, and became a live-in caretaker for that 88 yr old Aspie engineer for Kodak. Since then, my agency has NOT been able to keep me busy at all, and I've had many paychecks with only 10 or 12 hrs in them, and some with 16 to 20 hours. It sucked bigtime, so I applied for another job. It pays a little less per hr, but it would be for at least 40 hours. It took them awhile to check references and do a background investigation, but - - First thing this morning I got a call saying that the background investigation and reference checking was complete and satisfactory, and could I come in to fill out the paperwork. Sure thing, how's 2 PM tomorrow? Security guard. I expect it's a boring job, but it will be 40 hours a week, and it will be enough. It comes with Free (individual) health insurance, life insurance, and matching 401K. With those, it's actually Better than my present job as Health Aide. And I'm not quitting my present job either. If I get the graveyard shift, I can take a couple cases after the shift is over. And I can keep the side-jobs I have, which are 6 hrs a week at $15.00, and 8-10 hrs a week at $12.50. I plan to work only 6-10 hrs a wk at the current agency. So, the light paychecks of the last 4 months are over, and I'm going to be very busy for awhile. If I can continue with all these jobs, I'll be doing Very well, making in a week what I need for a month. And the side-jobs are both under-the-table. Whoo-hoo!
