Guest guest
That's right, BCBS of MA is paying for Hannah's whole band! We fought it for months. About 100 calls and numerous faxed claims later Hannah's article came out (2 days ago) and then presto the $3,000 will be here in about a week. I'm very happy of course, but kind of disgusted also. As regular people we were able to get NOWHERE. Then, my hubby's employer read the article (now in the file section) and called us to ask if they could share our story with BCBS. It made the employer look bad in the newspaper (especially since they're a hospital!) and since they're the largest employer on the Cape, so they wanted to help us. Then BCBS " found " our claim and also read our article. They called us yesterday to remind us that our DME allowance was only $1500 as we had made it clear we'd appeal till the very end. They called us today and said they were paying b/c of the problems we had with BCBS of Connecticut (CT had to bill BCBS of Conn and then they were supposed to forward it to BCBS of MA--somewhere it kept getting " lost " ). They expedited the claim and made a " one time exception " for all the problems we've had. They also mentioned they received calls from the hospital and also a reporter from the Boston TV station WBZ who does a segment called " Lyons on the Lookout. " Personally I think we just scared them, but heck, I'll take the check anyway I can get it! I hope our fight has inspired the rest of you in our situation to keep plugging away. Don't give up--that's what they want you to do! Get nasty if you have to! Hopefully the new APA guidelines will make insurance co's change their policies eventually. It would be nice to visit this plagio board in the future and see no posts about insurance.
