Tory,

You are amazing. I too am very strict about staying on program. And I

exercise just as much as I can without hurting myself. I've had to slow

down in the last couple of weeks. In nine weeks I have lost 25.5 lbs. I

can understand reevaluating your goals. When you started and decided on an

end goal you had a lot you wanted to lose. I've set my goal at 160 lbs

which is 80 lbs total. But once I get closer a smaller goal may be more

realistic and do able. I don't ever want to be as small as I was in

highschool, 125 lbs max. at 5'10 " . But I remember looking and feeling quite

healthy at 140lbs. Once I get closer to goal I will have a better idea of

what I can/want to do.

You are truly motivating!

Thanks .

I keep being told that 130 is too light. It's about what I weighed in HS

and I am 5'3 " so I don't THINK that it is, but at the same time I'm not

sure. My wrists and ankles are all bone, my collar bones show, so I may

be only 10 or 15 from a reasonable weight. (135 is the tops for my

age/height according to WW.) It's my stomach that keeps me thinking I

have 23 more to lose instead of 13. I just do NOT have an attractive

stomach area. It's very flabby (a lot of loose skin) and definitely NOT

anywhere near where I want it to be. (I'm not looking for Brittney

Spears here, I just want to NOT have it stick out.)

I don't think that 130 is too light. I'm 5'3 " too, and I weighed 115 - 125 as a

fully grown teenager. I found 115 was too light -- I got all shaky and jittery,

physically. I felt really good around 118 - 120. Right now I'm 133 and trying to

get down to 120 - 123. I'm now 49, so I think that is more reasonable, but I'll

make a final decision when I get down there. After having three kids, I don't

think my stomach area is ever going to look the way I would prefer <grin>, but

right now it does still have quite a bit of flab on it and I don't think it has

to. <smile> So, I don't think your goal is too ambitious, at all. Keep up the

good work! :-)

You know, Tory, I've been having similar issues, although I'm not as far

along as you are. I'm wondering if maybe Curves just isn't enough ab

work and have been going to the Y and using the ab machine more, and am

considering a Pilates class or something.

Tory and --

I second the idea of trying Pilates for tummy bulge. I do it at home

with a Voight tape called Body Reform Abs and Back. It's

effective as all get out! At first I had to modify many of the

exercises as my abs and back were pretty weak, so don't shy away if

it looks too hard. It's a nice workout because it's much less boring

than traditional crunches, etc. plus the music is good and it's

relaxing, too.

After a few months, my lower abs have lifted considerably, and I no

longer have a roll even though I still have thirty pounds to go to

get to goal. I have those lines on either side of my abs and you can

see my ribcage. I'm still chubby, but I know that with this

definition, my stomach's going to look great once I get to goal! You

can check it out at www.collagevideo.com, as they have video clips so

you can really get an idea what the tape is like. You can also buy

it pretty inexpensively on Ebay. I've seen it at Suncoast Video and

places like Best Buy, but that depends on the individual stores.

Hope this helps!

Mine is a lot of empty skin, so that's just going to take time. But

there is also fat on top of the skin. Not nearly as much as before.

That's where I carried my weight...right in the belly, so I have to be

patient. I may start doing Pilates at night again when I have time,

maybe three times a week. That should help. I also do work out with my

abs clenched during my workout at Curves. I modify a few moves (with the

blessings of the owners) to work the abs a little more. That is helping,

it is just that my arms and legs are looking awesome and I wish my belly

was as well.

Thanks Amy! I guess I should get out my Pilates CD. I make my husband do

it with me (for comic effect...kidding). I only stopped doing it because

I was doing (and still am doing) Curves. Shape.com also has an ab

workout that is very good (if the pain when I'm done doing it is any

indication).

I do work out every day, and do abs. I don't overdo it on abs, but I

work them hard. Right now it's flabby because I just lost almost 70

pounds. I think I might add some ab workouts in as soon as I get over

this darn bronchitis. This is my annual Fall Bronchitis Festival! Whee!

I was able to do Curves tonight, but didn't work out at my usual

frenetic intensity.

Okay, there is fat UNDER the skin. That would be pretty gross if there

were fat ON TOP of the skin! LOL!
