I noticed that Yahoo decided to once again cast me as a possibly- obscene Lumbricus terrestris. Eurgh, the endless explanations of that one. I prefer to tell people that it's a fully-erect mind. So, after so subtly pointed it out earlier (heh), I decided to change it to something that would need no explanation. Namely, that CAM NEELY SHOULD BE IN THE HOCKEY HALL OF FAME. Truth. Guest guest Posted December 6, 2001 Report Share Posted December 6, 2001 Cam Neely was forced to retire years ago, well before the pinnacle of his career, because of a series of terrible injuries that started with a nasty knee to the leg by Ulf sson. He continued to play, despite debilitating pain, and put up numbers that would have been respectible for someone who was healthy, let alone someone in as bad of shape as he was. What makes him such an enduring legend is that he had it all. While Gretzky captured Art Ross titles behind the brawn of McSorely and the skilled passes of Kurri and Messier, Cam Neely was passing, checking, and fighting his way to greatness. Buccigross, from ESPN, said that he played the way that we want our kids to learn to play hockey. Clean, hard, and with passion. So, Grace, don't feel bad; Number Eight isn't someone you'd hear about on a daily basis, unless you're a hard-core Bruins fan...lol (Ron? You there?). But for christ's sake, just put him in the Hall of Fame already... A weird condition where bone actually grows inside the muscle after a big hit damages the bone sheath (I'm no doctor...). Add a bunch of knee injuries to that and... His parents both died from cancer; that's why he and his family started the Cam Neely Foundation charity. I know this because in Edmonton they had about 20 retirement celebrations for him amd renamed a road for him (Wayne Gretzky Drive)and are now erecting 2 or three statues of him. He is like a god here.
