We ar going to talk about maybe outting a second band on. She has made fantastic progress but still is a bit off her facial assymetry is 2mm and her measurement from the right side of her forehead diagonally across to the back left side is still a longer measurement than from the front of her forehead to the back of her head it is off by 4mm. So we really want to bring that measurement down a bit more. She can be in her band that she has on now for a few more weeks before she is grown out of it. I will do a 2nd band if the doctor thinks we will get more correction. What do you think? Do you think we could get more correction with a 2nd band? Beccas is 8 months old. She received awesome correction from her band. You can check out her pics in the photo section in the folder . What does your ortho think? Guest guest Posted October 10, 2003 Report Share Posted October 10, 2003 We just took Jade to the neuro yesterday. He said she has recieved good correction with the first band. We too are comtemplating getting a second mainly because her head still seems to be very short and wide and she still prefers sleeping on her back. We started out with +4 deviations above the norm and I think we may be down to +2 (not really sure). If she continues to be a back sleeper out of the band, I don't think her head will improve much more on its own. She also still has some asymmetry on the left, but it's not as noticable at before. The neuro said a second band wont hurt, we just may only get a LITTLE more correction. He said as long as she seems to be tolerating it we could go with a second if we chose, so he gave us a script just in case we decide to go for #2. Many people at this site have said they have received good correction at an older age. Jade will be 11 months if we go for #2. Guest guest Posted September 20, 2006 Report Share Posted September 20, 2006 Hi, i know this is frustrating, but your daughter's results sound good. my daughter also started at 100% and is just under 88 now. she also still fits in her band, but we are thinking of stopping (we see the cranio facial specialist next week). our ortho said she can get more correction, but her flat spot is a the back-top of her head, and he said it may never fill out. That is one reason I'm thinking of stopping. if he could tell me it will fill in if she wears it long enough i would probably continue. I'm pretty happy with her head shape now . If you post some " after " pics I can tell you what I think, or you can email me. The bands are expensive and if they didn't think a lot of additional correction could be achieved then they were probably trying to do the right thing. That being said, if you want a 2nd band, go for it! Her numbers sound really good but only you can decide how she looks in person. Good luck!
