I rarely -- never, actually -- am forced to snack for low blood sugar. This

is much more likely to happen if you use NPH. Vicki

Another YMMV thing. If I were to eat any of these fruits I would go

sky-high. Sam is lucky in that his body can tolerate these fruits. The best

thing to do is, as always, eat and test and make good notes.

Vicki,

I'm finding this for me too, everything, every little morsel I have to inject

for, as from the prednisone my pancreas is actually dead, so its insulin or

go sky high and I have enough complications going on now.

Yes, Dr Rolla said pred can turn me to type 1, that may have happened.

But I want to know your secret!!! LOL How do you not want to eat? Because I

finally have gotten to the point where I won't eat unless I feel hunger

pangs, and the prednisone sure doesn't help here, a side effect of it is

ravenous hunger, but most of the day I ignore it, but at night, well thats a

different story!!! LOL

I've been craving potatoes of all things, never sweets or junk food, but

baked pototes, well at least its wheat free!!! LOL :-)

IT won't work for me either. I just don't eat between meals. I hate fruits

and veggies. The only fruit I get is watermelon and I have had that so much

in the past 2 weeks I have no desire for more. The only veggies I eat are

corn and green beans. I just can't stomach anything else, so I guess this is

going to be a rough road for me. Last night I had 2 slices of pizza and my

numbers did not go up alot (I guess the glucophage is working good).

prinivil, Lipod, Glucophage 1000mg a day

This may be a YMMV issue,. Although diabetics are generally urged to eat a

number of small meals, this definitely didn't work for me. I also am not a

snacker (though I would like to be)...but I'm a type 1 and take insulin. I

eat only at meals; if I eat anything at any time I have to dose for it and to

me, it's more trouble than it's worth to calculate all the variables for

between-meal snacks. Of course, I'm mathematically impaired, smile...Vicki .

I am another who has no problem with fruits, and I don't even have to

dose for them, done right.

***Carol, Vicki is in no way a compulsive eater. I remember her saying she

can buy one of those chocolate covered oranges and eat one slice per day,

and me responding that if I buy one, it doesn't even make it to my house,

because I'll gobble it up in the car on the way! This may make not snacking

a little easier for her.

Working on the farm, I eat frequently, and as necessary. I live alone,

though, and don't keep anything in the house that I might compulsively

overeat, which works well for me.

Tom, I have been keeping my carbs low but I am making Ketones! Do you have

any suggestions? I am Type 2 and controlling my bs with diet and exercise.

I ate some low fat dressing on my salad yesterday and went up to 168! I

really don't know what to do! If I eat regular dressing my Ketones will

get worse. What can I eat (Carbs) at each meal to keep me from going into

Ketosis (spelling?)?

Thanks.

Winifred

By the way, I am diet and exercise controlled (no meds), and I have no

problem with irregular eating. As long as I keep my carbs low (rarely

more

than 10 G. per meal, I can go a long time, or snack between meals (as

mentioned above), with very little change in my blood sugar levels. By

keeping the carbs down, swings in blood sugar and insulin levels are

limited.
