Guest guest
If " knowing what to do " was the key, then most of us would never have needed to lose weight. We all know that if you take in more calories than you burn, you will gain weight (and vice versa). This is an emotional issue for many people. Accept that...try to figure out WHAT is making you want to sabotage your progress...and don't buy anymore icecream! If it's not in the house, you can't eat it. If you really want that taste, I suggest you try the pints of Healthy Choice. VERY delicious! The last one I bought was Fudge Brownie (or something like that). It has 2 pts./serving, BUT if you think you will eat the whole thing, don't buy it because there are 4 servings in it. If you HAVE to have the 'real stuff', make a deal with yourself. You have to _______ (fill in the blank with some exercise like " walk 30 minutes " or " do the exercise video " ) BEFORE having the icecream. When I do this, most often the desire for the 'treat' goes away (yes, exercise is an appetite suppressant), but if it doesn't, you have earned a few activity points to balance it out. Good luck! And remember...we are all in this together! Cecelia
Guest guest
Ok Pull out that dress and stick it where you can see it! It will still be an incentive to you! And heck, you might find that you are too small for that dress when you get around to trying it on! Would you believe I had a brand new pair of jeans in my closet that I never got to wear just because my mind wouldn't let me believe they'd fit? Yep! The first time I went to buy some new clothes, I ended up buying a size smaller than I thought I could wear I picked up a 14 and went home with a 12! I was thrilled to death, hehehe And still the thought of me actually wearing an 8 boggles my mind We were at Eddie Bauer last night and I saw this expensive leather jacket with faux fur inside that I kind of liked but the price of 199 I didn't like Slipped into the medium, man was it way too big what a thrill! BTW somebody talked about their breast size and how it wasn't shrinking. I saw this lady at a local JCP here and she was large now! She said she had lost a lot of weight but her breasts had never ever gone down in size! Must have been a while back. Her breasts were huge, they were about like taking up the entire top part of her body if you know what I mean? So some people don't lose a lot of their chest and others do. My daughter was a DDD and now she is wearing just a D. Re: Slacker needs a PUSH!!! > > Now go buy yourself a pair of size 10 jeans and put them out where you can > > see them! Guest guest
I second the jeans idea! Way back when my jeans were a size 20! (Yikes!), I couldn't imagine that I'd actually fit into anything so small. Anyway, I'm in 10's now, a bit snug, to be sure, but they zip!! I'm having the same issues that you are... not motivated, kind of stuck, now at 163-165 lbs... Guest guest
I think that is a normal thing I felt stuck at 150 for 3 months but at least no gain during that time, as if THAT were any consolation. I think sometimes during the process you have to reaffirm your dedication to yourself in order to keep going. You get tired of the program, of not being allowed to just eat and eat everything you might want. But you have to realize within yourself that this is what it will take, say ok again and go on ahead. Just keep plugging along, it will get better! Re: Slacker needs a PUSH!!! > I second the jeans idea! Guest guest
Well Diane...what can I tell you that you don't already know? Nothing! You know what you need to do to lose weight. You know what steps it takes. You know what works best for you. Now it's down to choices. Ice cream is a choice. It's a very tastey choice. It is the not the best choice for your body. Every day you wake up with this wonderful body that takes you to where you want to go. It gets you up in the morning without the aid of a nurse or caretaker. It takes you to the gym so that you can exercise it without impedement. It serves you faithfully every single day with little complaint. There are so many people out there suffering from debilitating diseases who don't have the freedoms that you and I enjoy. We are SO blessed to be able to take the opportunity to improve our health and well being; to stave off health related illnesses; to make healthy choices...why do we squander that gift? So you know what you need to do! Dust off those books, open that checkbook, get your butt to a meeting and get work! I watched Reeve last night struggled 4-5 hours a day to get to the point where he can move a finger, and revel in that movement and I felt ashamed that I had abused my body for so many years. Hey there is nothing that says you can't enjoy the odd ice cream cone within the points. But like I say, you know what's right...now go do it! Guest guest
Bah Diane! I haven't been a size ten since HIGH SCHOOL! I'm a size ten now. I even tried on a junior nine a few weeks ago, and while snug and I wouldn't be caught dead in the style (they looked cute on the rack), they fit! Never say never! I started thinking I'll get to a size 14. > Re: Slacker needs a PUSH!!! > > > > Now go buy yourself a pair of size 10 jeans and put them > out where you > > can see them! Guest guest
oooh, Tory, that is SOOO inspiring. Let me have my interim goals, though. I'll start dreaming of 10's after I get to 12's first. Right now I'm a really tight fitting 14.
