Guest guest
Hi all, Glad to see things are starting to get back to normality with Yahoo groups. I'm still not getting all the mail coming through my mailbox, so for now I'm also reading it off the website. I have a couple of questions and I'm hoping that somebody out there can help me out :-) First off, I've been low-carbing now for about a week and the BS readings are coming down, but they're still not at what I would like them to be. Fasting is running between 140-150 and my lowest readings always seem to be right before dinner and that's around 110-130. Anyway, I've been doing lots of eating and testing. The past few days I've had an Atkins breakfast bar and a cup of coffee for breakfast, this raises my BS by around 10 points. But this morning I also took a tablespoon of lecithin granules (for lowering my LDL cholesterol) and I had a rise of 35 points. I was wondering if anybody knows if this supplement would be the cause of such a high rise in BS, and if it is, why would that be, does it have a lot of carbs in it? I buy it in bulk from the Co-op and never noticed any nutritional breakdown for it. Also, does it take a while to get your BS readings stabilized, or should it happen as soon as you start changing your diet? Might it take me a while to reach desirable levels of between 90 to say 110. Lastly, what is considered an okay rise in BS, 10, 20, 30, 40 points? For example, should a person be striving to have no more than a 20 point rise after any given meal? Oh by the way, I love my new meter the Precision QID.....no matter how many times I've rechecked with it, it's always within a few points each time, excellent! On the one from Walgreens (The Prestige) the readings were all over the place! Hugs, Roisin (ro-sheen) *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Sometimes the Lord calms the storm; sometimes He lets the storm rage and calms His child. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
