T3 reaction

I wanted to see if anyone had any reactions to taking T3 meds only. I

was recently prescribed a low dose of just T3 and it is making me feel

very dizzy, and severe brain fog. I just started it and really don't

want to stop as I feel I need Thyoid support, but the side effects may

be too much!

>>Yes it is only 7.5mg 1x day, no heart palps or any hyper symptoms

just foggggg<<

That is a VERY low dose of T3., I take 50-60mcg with 4 grains of Armour! I

would suspect it may be just loke a too low a dose of Armour in that i=t simply

shuts down further your own T3 production with out replacing enough to make a

difference.

Val may have to weigh in here, I dont know much about just T3 therapy. Because

this seems like a low dose to me, but since it's just T3 maybe not. I know that

the just T3 therapy seems a bit controversial. In part because if you have a

conversion problem, taking just T4 or just T3 would be problematic. So the doc

is assuming you are converting some T3 to T4, just like other docs assume people

taking $ynthroid (T4) would convert some to T3.

But I'm upset you are feeling brain foggy from it.

You are on Isocort too, correct? You could try to wait out the week and see

if your body adjusts and go from there. But I would try to talk to as many

people as possible that do the just T3 therapy and get feedback. You may want

to join the natural thyroid group too.

Thanks Val, since it is just T3 would you suggest asking for Armour

instead, and at what dose? Thanks you are always very helpful ;)

I was not aware of the T3 to T4 conversion only the other way,

interesting. I may ask for Armour, he will probably want me to wait

a week or so, it is just that I'm very sensitive to meds and as you

know it is uncomfortable experimenting to find out what works!

By the way what is the web address for the other group you mentioned.

See ya,

Actually the hormones in Armour are all there to help your body work well. I

found research that the T1 in Armour actually has a calming effect and and can

destress your system for the effects of too much T3 or T2. So I think the more

balanced full thyroid meds (all dessicated thyroid meds) are much better for you

than any synthetics can be. For many years they thought T1 & T2 were inactive..

oh how wrong they were! T2 actually has more metabolic effects than even T3, it

just works on different things, and T1 balances both T2 and T3 to acceptable

levels in your body. With adrenal fatigue it would be wise to start with 1/2

grain and either 1/4 grain increases weekly or 1/2 grain increases every 2

weeks. I kinda like 1/4 grain increases weekly as this is easier on your

adrenals. Once you get to 3 grains, you MUST slow the increases way down so you

don't over shoot your correct dose.

Some people need to wait 2-3 weeks to feel the true effects of a dose

raise. When I have raised in the past I would sometimes initially

feel more tired until the effect took hold.
