Ohhh! My favorite (well, second after Japanese!)

You can have guacamole, some salsa, a taco salad w/o the beans or tortilla,

fajitas w/o the flour tortilla, a chile relleno, carne asada soft tacos w/o

the corn tortilla, carnitas w/o tortillas (there's a pattern here). If you

like pork rinds, you can take those with for dipping (if son doesn't look

aghast at you.) Leave the rice and beans alone and you're all set!

Ohhhhhhhh, , thank you!! I am printing out a

copy of your message to stick in my purse. I had

thought of taking both pork rinds, and some celery

sticks, and ordering guacamole. I also wondered about

the taco salad. I don't understand why I can't have

beans????????

Beans are very high in starch (aka carbs), even though they have a lot of

fiber. This is one of those foods that you should really test a lot.

Different beans... different carb counts. I take it really easy on beans if

I eat any at all, and I LOVE beans! Taco salad is good too, but foget the

taco shell. Most tostadas come with a choice of meat, so any meat will do on

that. I also thought of chile colorado (meat in a tomatoey sauce), any

all-meat burrito w/o the tortilla and albondiga soup (meatballs and veggies

as long as there's not too much rice filler in the meatballs!) Don't forget

there will be a lot of fat in all the cheese (but what's Mexican w/o

cheese?), which will make any rise in BG last longer. -

Hi, . Thanks for this info. I will eat, and

test, but at home. Until I know what they do to my

bg.

I didn't make it to the Mexican dinner, after all!!!

When I woke up yesterday my bg was only 57. I didn't

feel well. I decidef to have an English muffin with

some peanut butter, 1/2 C of blackberries, and some 1%

milk. It sure did taste good!

But, when I tested my bg an hour after breakfast, it

was up to 220! So, that does it for me, with milk! I

felt worse after my breakfast, and went back to bed.

Slept until midnight last night, and then was wide

awake.

I am really learning that I feel better, and my bg

stays in a better range, when I do low carb. In a few

days I plan to try the English muffin with peanut

butter and blackberries, again. Without the milk.

Then I will know whether I must give up that type

breakfast entirely, or not.

Sheila, I bet the english muffin is the culprit. If you can find 'em,

though, crumpets are pretty lowcarb (you know, the ones with all the holes in

'em)...I think one is 12 carbs. But you can't put honey on them! Vicki

Wonder how you did with the Mexican restaurant. You

can always do the salad thing of course. Small

portions help tremendously. But I am not a completely

lo-carber. I really have trouble at a chinese

restaurant unless I forego rice altogether. Just

wondering. Fran
