Guest guest
My father, age 83, has shown symptoms of Lewy Body Dementia for six plus years (hallucinations, shuffling feet, changed gait, delusions and paranoia). He has been well medicated for 10 months, but the hallucinations are starting to come back. Yesterday, I had the first hand experience of capgras syndrome (I think). He called me saying that he was afraid that his home aid would not be able to find him because he was lost. He looked around him and said that it looked like his apartment but it was not his apartment. He named all the things around him that were his but it just wasn't right. I said I'd be right over, but he couldn't understand how I would find him. I rushed over and after a short walk and return to his apartment he was okay. Any suggestions about ways to handle these episodes and medication changes that might help. Right now he's in senior community with home aids in the morning and night, but I know that soon we will need full-time care. Thanks for the advice, Tammy G. land
