Guest guest
I am a paramedic and and am currently attending nursing school in Houston. I will be done Dec./2000. My Husband works at Cook's in Ft. Wroth so needless to say we will be in the DFW area permnantly after I complete school. I have been doing some investigation into positions here for new RN's and it seems most of them you have to do an internship for. I am interested in ER and Labor and delivery. Can any of you guys out there that have went from paramedic to RN tell me if this is the trend? Do you pretty much have to do an internship to get in somewhere? Does anyone know of any places that don't require this? It just seems that most places that offer an internship want you to commit to the internship which is anywhere from 6-8 months and then 18 mos to 2 year post intership. They have you to sign a contract. Like I said, I am interested in L & D but don't want to commit that long if I find that it is not my bag. I would appreciate any input ! Thanks for your time, Amy Perilman
