Guest guest Posted January 30, 2000 Report Share Posted January 30, 2000 Hi everyone, My girlfriend has been diagnosed with ACM type I and the consultant bloke hasn't been a great deal of help (although I'm rather pleased that he's diagnosed it!) and I was wondering whether you could help me out with a few things. First thing, does anyone know of anyone else being diagnosed with ME (aka CFS - Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) as well as the chiari? I was also wondering whether the chiari could account for the ME symptoms, and the ME actually be a wrong diagnosis? I've got ME myself and know from looking around that the majority of the symptoms I get are similar to those for the whole chiari thing. Also, can the chiari give really bad dizzy spells and blackouts? She's been really worried about that and the consultant said that it wouldn't be because of the that (although I read somewhere about dizziness). Also, is it best to get the op done as quickly as possible? The consultant didn't seem to worried about getting it done quickly, and (my girlfriend) REALLY doesn't like the idea of having her head cut open! I'm sorry to lay so many questions on you lot, but I could really do with the help. It's nice to know that there's such a positive support group available. Thank you all so much.
