Alternative to acyvlovir, in chronic hv infection?

Dear all,

I hope you are all having a pleasant holiday with your family.

I wrote recently about my kid being scanned and dxd w chronic herpes virus

infection in brain and spine. The MD is recommending IV betametasone and oral

acyclovir, high dose, for 4 months. Can someone recommend a reliable

alternative for acyclovir? Is there a herbal alternative for such a bad

infection?
