Oxygen feeds strep so HBOT is not good for kids w/ PANDAS. Before I would do a tonsillectomy I would find a PANDAS specialist and try a long course of antibiotics....possibly a short course of steroids.....and maybe IVIG. A good source of info is at www.pandasnetwork.org

I have no experience with Tonsillectomy. Hope others can chime in. But I

thought that the procedure DK recommends is the not regular Tonsillectomy

performed in the US. The alternative procedure freezes the tonsils using a

technique called cryosurgery, which does not require anesthesia but only local

numbing agent. I recall that at our last appointment with DK he mentioned that

he has found one doctor here in the US can perform the alternative procedure

they do in Germany.

Thank you Limin, I know that but DK knows that I can not do in Canada that type

of TONSILLECTOMY , but I did e-mail his office today let's see what he says.

I was just wondering how cryosurgery would be performed on a child with just a numbing agent. I know my child would not sit there and keep his mouth opened for a long length of time. Also, some of the risk associated with Cryosurgery are that being the tonsils are frozen off, they don't have a high accuracy rate of taking out just what's supposed to be taken out. If you take out too little, they grow back. Too much would result in unnecessary tissue damage. I guess then you have to weight in on the risks of anesthesia and a possible regression. We're actually getting a tonsilectomy for our son next Friday without Nitrous Oxide. Hope for the best.PamSender: praboli@...

My son was scheduled to have his Tonsils removed last month, and decided not to

have it done, even though it was recommended by DR K. or to do cryotherapy.

Which is not removing the tonsiis, they are frozen - sometimes it takes two

treatments.

I would like to know the name of the DR in the USA doing this, I only have found

several in Germany.

Anyone know who does this?
