Guest guest
Sammie, I did this eating more than I have eaten in my adult life! Starvation diets do not work for hypo people! It did take me almost 2 years to lose this, but who cares I am still only 2 years older and 100 pounds better! I eat something every 2 hours, which is also great for your adrenals. I stick with higher protein foods but I eat carbs too. I do not cut fats at all as I crave them. I usually have an organic steak and wither baked potato 9with butter & sour cream ) or a salad with a homemade dressing on it. I have yogurt cups I take with me to work and string cheese. I usually eat toast with butter in the mornings or if I feel like cooking an egg on toast with mayo. I usually eat when I get home from work which can be a couple boiled eggs, or toast with pnut butter. I do not snack alot. I do not eat things like crackers or chips or nuts (cause I can;t.. my lack of teeth) I do not eat cakes or cookies and when I eat ice cream it is low carb which is delicious and I do not feel that bit of splenda is gonna hurt me. My coffee has half & half and sugar (raw sugar) in it. Sometimes for dinner I will have bacon & eggs or pancakes (with butter and maple syrup, real thing only) & bacon. In other words I am able to eat pretty well and still lose weight. I pay alot more for groceries now as I am buying as much organic as I can. but I feel that is part of my better health now so it is worth it. I just got back from the grocery store and spent $72 that is for me for a week. THAT turns my stomach but so be it. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Wow Val, I wish I could eat like you and lose 100 lbs. Actually I'd be happy to lose 40 instead of gaining 1 lb for every gram of carb that I eat. Guest guest
I was tested for Reverse T3, which was separate from Free T3 or Total T3. And it was high, meaning my metabolism is low. Good times.......... SAMMIE " C. Mannelli, Ed.D. " wrote: what is the test for reverse T3? I was under the impression that it was not distinguishable in labs, from T3 -- Re: Re: newbie w/multi questions - weight gain Val, I'm so leery of high protein/low carb diets, because I started the Atkins diet in June of 2003, one month later I woke up with Grave's eye disease. And I really didn't lose weight despite being totally and utterly faithful, while exercising at least one hour a day. I always wondered if something in the diet triggered Grave's. So imagine being told that you are HyperT, despite low temps, low fatigue and an inability to lose weight. Then imagine being put on ANTI-thyroid meds!! Maybe it was a blessing because I was so mad that I got online in search of answers and found these support groups. Ugh. So, the treatment for Grave's made me gain even more weight. Honestly, I really feel like eating 800 calories a day is my only hope, while exercising. I've decided not to diet at all until I feel like my HC and thyroid meds are optimal. I don't want anything causing problems, including raising my Reverse T3, which was high the last time I checked it. Blahhhhhhhhhhhh. I need chocolate. Guest guest
Sammie, Do you eat any refined foods, in particular anything made with soybean oil? Salad dressings, cookies, crackers, packaged mixes for prepared foods, etc. Linn > Oh, I've tried it all - saturated, including a period > with coconut oil, primrose, borage, black currant and > cod liver........ > > --- Linn wrote: > > > What kind of fats do you eat? > > > > Linn >
Guest guest
Hi Linn, Currently I'm not eating that well, and certainly I'm eating things with soybean oil in them. But in the past I've been rigidly tight with my diet, including my Atkins bout and avoiding soybean oil. Guest guest
Sammie, The reason I asked was that until last year I did not realize how detrimental soybean oil in the diet can be. There's some great nutritional info at thedoctorwithin.com by Dr. Tim O'Shea on several different topics that might be of interest and help to you in your diet quest. In particular the chapter called " The Magic Bean " , " Enzymes " , and " Journey to the Center of Your Colon " . Guest guest
how is one tested for reverse T3? I thought T3 and reverse T3 were not distinguishible from testing and the molecules are the same configuration? Just want to know how one is tested, never heard of it. -- Re: Re: newbie w/multi questions - weight gain Val, I'm so leery of high protein/low carb diets, because I started the Atkins diet in June of 2003, one month later I woke up with Grave's eye disease.
