straight teeth but a major jaw malformation)

You might also consider consulting an oro-myofacial

therapist. They look at muscles, ligaments, tongue, etc.

that affect structure, palate, and function and examine

tone, strength and other things. They work to stabilize

the work done by the orthodontist. Also, besides cranial

sacral therapy, a cranial osteopath can also help.

It's probably best to consult an oro-myofacial first.  They can tell you more about what else could be done exercises wise outside of braces.  I guess it would be depend on the severity and how it was malformed.
