Hi Joan,

Jim is progressing. I hate this disease!!!! He still eats well when I am with

him, but he is on pureed now and honey thickened liquids. The PT at the nursing

home, couldn't leave well enough alone and gave Jim and new wheelchair, which I

DO NOT like. He has had it a week. I have called her to talk to her, but she is

not in when I call and when she calls back I am not in, so I have not been able

to reach the PT yet to do something about the situation. Jim has never had the

Lewy Lean, because his wheelchairs have always supported his back to sit

straight. The PT didn't think that Jim's legs were at a 90 degree angle and she

didn't think the chair supported behind his legs where it should, so she ordered

a new chair. Now Jim leans to the left off of the back of the chair, because he

has no support for his back, as his other chairs have given him and with this

chair when the foot rests are off, Jim's feet do not reach the floor and he will

not stand up to toilet him, because he can not jump to the floor or push himself

forward to reach the floor with his feet. Arrrrrrrrrrgh, I want his old chair

back, before he starts leaning all the time and loses his weight bearing to

stand up. His congestion is back and he has a UTI again and is on Keflex

antibiotic. His nose, eyes run and he drools. He hasn't felt well lately. And

the chair is making his back ache, because it does not support his back and he

also leans forward now too, all within this last week. Things have changed fast!

Jan, sorry to hear about the chair. I went through somewhat the same with Mom

and when I realized the discomfort she was in, as well as inability to move her

legs because of a support behind them I searched the nh floor she was on until I

found her old one in the PT office. PT wasn't there and staff had ignored Mom's

pleas of back discomfort so I simply took the old chair back and replaced it

with the new one with a note to the PT as to why. No repurcussions. I so hope

you can get the old chair back or a more friendly one put together. Mom never

could move her legs to reposition herself in her chair after that.

You are constantly in my thoughts.

((hugs to you))

Hi Jan,

Sorry, I have not checked messages in a while...the reason is not important to

this group.

I am sorry about the NH giving Jim a different wheelchair. Don't they still

have his old one? I am also wondering if they gave him some different meds or

soemthing that started the Lewy Lean???

I will read the rest of the posts and perhaps you will have posted more.

God bless you and Jim!
