Can anyone tell me where I might be able to find any low carb tortillas

other than order them through the La Tortilla factory? All I can find in

the stores is the Mission Whole Wheat tortillas at Wal-Mart. They contain

26g of carbohydrate (which includes 2g of fiber and 3g of sugar. Someone (I

don't remember who) said that they ordered from someone and they received

them quicker and the shipping costs were less than when ordering from the

factory.

Thanks,

Tootie

P.S. I had a very busy day today. I watched (listened) to 4 sermons on the

TV this morning, went to a 3 way birthday " steak cook out " this afternoon

(one of the birthday kids was 101 years YOUNG and had skipped out and went

to Louisiana), then went to church tonight with one of my sons and his son.

I'm too pooped to pop! Guess I'd better go check my blood sugar again.

*shuddering by just thinking about it this time*.............:o(

Re: Egg salad sandwhiches.......

Hi, Pat. I love egg salad sandwiches, too!! I

recently bought some low carb, La Tortilla, wheat

tortillas. They only have 6 carbs each. I put egg

salad into two of them, rolled them up, and microwaved

them for about 1 minute. Yummy.......and low carb.

Jerry Steg was the one who posted the info I believe. Hopefully he will

see this.

These are the two that I use. I use Netrition the most but now and then the

second one (Carbsmart) has a good sale. JerrySteg

i prefer bread, but i'm learning. it was easy the

other nite, and i was tired. but i'm looking at an

entire loaf, and saying " YUK " . the same with french

toast this morning. i did have one donut at the

show, but that's it. and i'm gonna check the carbs

on hotdogs, and feast. i realize i can still have a

chili hotdog, or hamburger with cheese and bacon, i

just can't have the bread, and need to check the carb

content of the chili (i love it with sauerkraut too).

and for the new member that i somehow missed your

post:

i didn't want a monitor and my doctor told me not to

get one. the list INSISTED that i did. i was ready

to kill all of them, but i acquiesced, and not i

puncture my poor little fingers about a dozen times

daily. it's told me that jellybeans, Ben & Jerry,

Mcs and other things are in my past. i see the

numbers soar, and it tells me that i may pay for it

later. without the monitor, i would have no way of

knowing.

and i'm finding my body is different from everyone

elses. sausage in the morning is not great for me;

fruit is not super either. i'm still trying to decide

what is. milk is totally out; Dr. Pepper and Diet

coke are fine. i will join the mantra: GET A

MONITOR AND USE IT. and this is from someone who is

dead panicked with needles and blood. it's not that

bad. pat

Good for you, Pat! I just don't understand doctors who say " it's not

important to test " .. with advice like that,.no wonder so many diabetics are

in deep doodoo! Anyway, I'm glad you Saw the Light (smile)...and as you're

finding out, we all react differently to foods so the only way to know for

sure is to test and eat, test and eat...you'll even find out that you can

handle certain foods at certain times and not others. That was a surprise to

me...I'd been told the Pure D-Lite (Ross) chocolate bars were no carb and no

problem for many diabetics...well, it was a small problem for me at lunch --

could only eat a half one with no problem -- and a Big Problem for me at

dinner. Go figure. Vicki

i bought some of " that " ice cream today, but i'm

gonna save it for a spoonful every so often. and

then when things calm down, i'll be off it altogether.

i'm planning my meals now for when mom comes home. i

realize that most of our favorite chicken dishes are

OK, but the one with Pepperidge Farm Dressing (one of

my favorite things) probably will be out from now on.

and my favorite potato dish will be for xmas, and

maybe a spoonful. i'm trying to tell myself that i

won't be a casualty, and maybe can turn this lemon

into lemonade. pat
