Guest guest
A while back someone posted a query on MD/DC doctors for a friend in Virginia. I composed an elaborate message that I then could never send because of e-mail troubles. I will just give a brief summary of what I know. Kamal Hammod- he is at s Hopkins. I have heard from Alan on the list that the *real* person to see is Ursula Wesselman. I didnt see her and was not told of her by Hopkins at the time I sought " the specialist at Hopkins " as was my " referral " from my old gyn's. who thought nothing apparently of not having sex for four months and having a red vestibule (long upsetting tale). Anyway, I hated this guy. He has got to be hte worst listener I have ever met. However, his testing is thorough. His other plus is that he does not believe in surgery unless all other avenues have been exhausted. His approach, if you have no actual " thing " is to do all therapies at once- physical therapy, diet change,no sex for three months while trying this, antidepressants, you name it. It was not the right treatment plan for me, as my case clearly had a yeast history- he would not allow me to finish any sentence with yeast in it. I decided not to see him. Antifunglas in my case turned things around, especially back then when they were so bad. He is the only one I have read about that defines vestibulitis as an inflammation of the glands- usually this is considered only one possibility. There is a urogynocological ward at Washington Hospital Center I have heard about-they deal with vulvodynia. Never been there. Arling in Washington DC is a fabulous internist and the one who first took the time to care about my vestibultis. He is so well known that when I tell other doctors he is my doctor, they practically get down on their knees. My new gynocologist is a man- he has the most gentle touch of anyone I have *ever* seen, he is the most considerate and truly caring gyn I have *ever* met.His name is Travers, with offices in Greenbelt land and Silver Spring MD.He has some experience with vestibulitis and has found it often is yeast based, in his sample anyway, and he is treating me now. A good dermo to see is Carmina in DC. SHe worked with Dr. Marinoff so has seen vulvar skin, and again, she was very caring and nice. One doctor who told me Dr was great also told me to stay away from Dr Marinoff.Marinoff is I think head of the vulvar somthing or other society here in DC. Never seen him. My old gyn told me a patient of hers had surgery by him and is doing great-anyway, mixed reports on Marinoff. Thats all I've got at this point.Anyone who wants more info on this, please write to me direct as I am sure to get it that way- I get the digest and scan for titles every now and then, so I might miss a reply.
