How much iron are you taking? I've been taking iron for 2 months and my labs

didn't show a change at all.

How much Synthroid were you on? 1 grain of Armour seems low.

Have you been tracking your temps? Also do you have thyroid labs to show the

groups?

Hi All,

think Yaho was acting up earlier today. If someone has the time to

I'm using Isocort -been increasing the dosage. I'm at 2 tabs first

thing, 1 tab 4 hours later and 1 more tab 4 hours after that. I was

on Synthroid when I added in the Iso and felt horrible (not due to

the Iso, felt horrible on the Syn) so I ditched the Syn and added 1

grain of Armour about a week or so ago. I feel horrible and don't

know what to do. I don't have any hyper symptoms at all but the hypo

ones are killin' me. The muscles in my legs hurt and I'm just

dragging myself around. Brain fog bad, got never ending blues,no

libido, fluid retention, you get the picture. A side note - I had

low ferritin and have been taking iron every day for quite awhile so

I think that should be improving.

So, I understand that I have to treat the adrenals first - do I have

to take the slow move up with the Iso or can I speed it up a bit? Or

should I try to raise the Armour and is it safe to try and do that?

Another question - mail guy just came - my HC came in the mail -

should I stop the Iso and use that or just stick with the Iso until

I get to 20MG? This is so confusing to me, which is why I was

scared to do it.

Any response would be appreciated.

Hi Kathy!

I'd substitute out 5mg at a time HC for 2 Isocort, because HC IS more

active. What dose $yncrap were you on before you switched? It'd be

helpful to know that in order to know how your dose has changed.

I am delighted to have been able to brighten your day, if only briefly.

Hi Sammie, thanks for responding. Answers below.

> How much iron are you taking? I've been taking iron for 2 months

18 mg. tabs, 6 tabs a day. Haven't had labs in a couple months for

ferritin. Assuming it's getting better.

>>How much Synthroid were you on? 1 grain of Armour seems low.

I was on .112 Syn but was told to stay where I was while I

introduced the Isocort. Couldn't take it so got rid of Syn and

added 1 grain Armour.

> Have you been tracking your temps? Also do you have thyroid

Not tracking temps like I should but when I do take them they sit

around 97 to 97.6. Recent labs for thyroid were as follows, taken

August 16, doc had already had me reduce Armour and after these labs

were taken she put me back on Syn because I complained of feeling

like crap.

TSH 0.75 (range 0.4-5.5)

Free T4 1.0 (range 0.8-1.8)

Free T3 236 (range 230-420)

All, of course, considered normal.

Hi Deborah - also responded to Sammie's post. Was on .112 of Syn.

Thing is, I had not introduced Iso/HC yet when I was on Syn so I'm

not sure where to go here. Do I stay on schedule with HC, with the

increases every three days or so (according to the STTM site),

without increasing Armour? Do I speed up the Iso/HC schedule and

ONLY increase Armour once I get to 20MG Iso/HC? Do I increase

Armour now and continue on the HC schedule?

The brain fog doesn't help with my understanding of this and it's

why I've run away from self treating before - just scared - even

though I need to do something so I don't feel so sick.

Thanks,

Oh yea, I'd feel like hell with those " normal " labs. It seems like you need

more Armour for sure with those low temps and labs, but it's so important to

increase sloooooooooooooowly - 1/4 grain or less at a time over the course of

weeks.

And I wish I knew more about iron doses. I think I take 450mg, but maybe I

mean mcg ?? And yet, apparantly this isn't enough for me. So your dose seems

very low to me. Hopefully others will weigh in.......

How is the Isocort working for you? Did you have a saliva test confirming

adrenal fatigue?

Kathy, I would just switch out to the HC in the same amount you are on

of Isocort ( each Iso pellet is 2.5 MG HC) then in a day try an Armour

increase of 1/4 grain. If you are having no hyper symptoms you can

increase Armour by 1/4 grain a week even while you are working up on

HC.Just watch for hyper in higher temps and higher pulse(temps over 99

and pulse over 90 BPM) and if they show up you might need to stop

thyroid for a few days to use up excess, but sounds like you are just

getting more & more hypo.

Hi Sammie,

The Isocort isn't doing anything, but I'm only at 10 mg a day. Am

going to take 's advise and switch over to HC since it just

arrived yesterday.

And, yes, a saliva test confirmed the adrenal issue. Results were:

Cortisol

7-8AM – 19 – Normal (range 13-34)

11AM-12PM - < 1 – Depressed (range 5-10)

4-5PM – 1 – Depressed (range 3-8)

11-12PM – 1 – Normal (range 1-4)

Cortisol Burden – 22 (range 23-42)

Thanks for the help,

Hi Val, thanks for the response. I'm due to go up on the Iscort

tomorrow. So, will switch to HC then and will do 5 mg. first thing,

5 mg. 4 hours later (this is where the increase is) and then 2.5mg 4

hours after that. Will be at 12.5mg total until the next raise is

due. Will add in 1/4 grain of Armour to the 1 grain I'm already

taking during the weekend and will see what happens. I assume I

will take this extra 1/4 with the 1 grain in the morning - no split

dosing yet.

Thanks!!

With your bad adrenal labs I would recommend split dosing, even now.

Hi again, Val. Thanks for the info. ok, so right now I take 1

grain in the AM, sublingually. As you know, I currently feel pretty

horrible. My own fault for going back to Syn. When I go to 1.25

grains how should I split it up? 1 grain first thing in AM and then

the .25 four hours later with the next HC dose? I have no hyper

symptoms at all right now. Was like a zombie driving to work this

morning, even with 9 hours sleep and my darn leg muscles are like

lead. :-(
