Anne,

I thought about writing this to you in response to your first email, but I

figured that others who knew more about this would respond to you. If they

haven't, then maybe I'm way off base. But whenever I hear someone talk

about urination/bladder problems, I think of interstitial cystitis. Since I

don't know much more about it than its name, I'll leave it to you to do some

research in our archives or on the web, or maybe someone else can explain it

to you. But it might be a diagnosis you want to look into.....

On day four of my period, the itching is as bad as it ever was!

That would only explain the urge to urinate; it wouldn't explain anything

else.

<< I have been trying the sitz bath like some people here suggested and it

isn't working. If I had a copy of my original first post, I'd re-post it.

I feel ignored. >>

Hi Anne,

I am so sorry if it seemed you may have been ignored. I do have a sugestion,

but not sure if you tried this yet. Have you tried using ice packs, but

wrapped so the cold isn't too servere. It is the best thing I have found to

help inflamation. Inflamation can cause itching, burning, swelling and

discomfort of pain. Also A & D Personal Products are a big help for healing

and skin protection. There are towelett wipes and also a cream that can be

applied as much as needed. It helps with urine odor as well as protect skin

from urine and promotes healing. Ask a pharmacy if they carry all of the A &

D Personal Care Products, if they are not in stock, they will order it for

you. I had to ask the pharmacy to order it and it arrived the next day. Let

me know if there is anything I can further suggest, I would be more than

happy to pull some other options if these do not work. I am sure that it

will help tremendusly, but you may need to continue this treatment for a

while. This should give some pain relief for you using ice.

Keep intouch and let me know how you are doing, my thoughts are with you as

pain is unfair to have there and we will get you through this.

Anne, I can answer questions for you on IC since being diagnosed in May with

it. If you are having bladder problems, DO NOT HESITATE GOING TO A UROLOGIST

TO GET THE TESTS DONE TO DETERMINE IF IC MAY BE CAUSING YOUR PROBLEMS. This

is serouis and your bladder can be damaged with no reversal of the damage if

going untreated. Email me if you want information on this. I will give all

the information I have. I never heard of IC until diagnosed so don't be shy

not knowing about this disease. I am doing much better taking prescription

medication for it. The sugestions I sent you earlier will help you because

I was told by my Urologist to buy the A & D Personal Care Products. And the

ice was what I used for pain before being diagnosed. I am on Elmiron which

is the only oral drug for this disease. I will help you with what I can, let

me know how your doing.

Good morning....

Just wanted to comment on your excerpt:

<< That would only explain the urge to urinate; it wouldn't explain anything

else. >>

In the past when I have had urgency/frequency I've usually tested positive

for a urinary tract infection. For some reason, I am very susceptible to

developing them. I get 2-3 a year...which usually means antibiotics which

usually means...of course...oral yeast infections (thrush) and/or vaginal

yeast or both for me.

Maybe you should look into the possibility of a UTI.

Good luck.

Hugs,

Carla :o)

I've already been checked for that; I don't have a UTI.
