Guest guest
So glad you liked my Nixon doll - I can laugh about it now,but it sure was one of those dolls you didn't want to encounter on the way to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Nixon was a funnier gift than time she bought me a multi-pack of underwear and then separately, and very ornately, wrapped each pair separately...after about the third box, I looked over at my Dad and he just sheepishly looked at the floor. Nixon doll I'm sifting through about 400 e-mails and accidentally deleted the one about the doll who looked like Nixon but THANK YOU to whoever sent that one! Despair has sucked me under today, I sort of feel like I'm drowning, my nada has been really nuts lately, leaving weeping, hysterical voicemails, calling at 2 am, sending me sad valentine's e-mails, calling my boyfriend's parent's house, my friend's parents etc. My nada is not the most popular member of our small 300-person town (you can just imagine how she deals with dissent on town committees.. .) but nonetheless, people are being very cruel about my stepdad having left her. He still hasn't told her where he is--he had to have a sleeping with the enemy type escape as I'm sure you can imagine--so some cruel person in town put up missing person posters of him all over town yesterday. The story just horrified me on a lot of levels and the realities of this situation--that he's really gone, that this is happening again, that I'm her only relative left--started to click into place. I've been in bed all day and haven't been able to get a speck of work done, it's a low for me. However, on the bright side, I got the e-mail about the creepy Nixon doll and just started laughing and laughing uncontrollably. Thank you:) ------------ --------- --------- --- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Try it now.

Guest guest
I read this post and wanted to validate you: yes, you have a truly wrenching situation here! I remember reading your posts as you were fearing that your nada would fall apart or flip out when your stepfather left. I was hoping it wouldn't turn out that way, but I know from my personal experience and from reading here that nadas can go to any extreme at pretty much any time, for pretty much any length of time. What I didn't count on was OTHER PEOPLE IN THE TOWN making things worse. Yep, that totally SUCKS! So I'm glad you found something to make you laugh here. I never thought I'd say this, but thank God for Nixon. One more thing I wanted to add: you might be your nada's only family left, but she is not yours. You can marry and get a wonderful husband and in-law family (hey, I did) and/or you can have, adopt, or foster kids. This situation your nada is in now is not YOUR life. You CAN put the breaks on with feeling the " aftershocks " of her crumbling life. You can move on and can re-create a family that will love you and care for you, and take care of YOU for a change. I'm sending you a BIG hug from Rhode Island. - April > > I'm sifting through about 400 e-mails and accidentally deleted the one about the doll who looked like Nixon but THANK YOU to whoever sent that one! > > Despair has sucked me under today, I sort of feel like I'm drowning, my nada has been really nuts lately, leaving weeping, hysterical voicemails, calling at 2 am, sending me sad valentine's e- mails, calling my boyfriend's parent's house, my friend's parents etc. My nada is not the most popular member of our small 300-person town (you can just imagine how she deals with dissent on town committees...) but nonetheless, people are being very cruel about my stepdad having left her. Guest guest
See? If you can still laugh, you're going to make it! Sorry you're having to endure this meltdown of your mother's. Especially since you know more about your stepfather than your mother does right now (right?) It's too bad she is suffering the demise of her marriage, but she has no right to inflict herself on people because of it. Sheesh -- she's becoming a wreck over this. Sorry you're getting hit with her " overspray " ..... Now you've got me wondering about the Nixon doll e-mail! -Kyla
