Hi Betty,

I put cinnamon in my oatmeal every morning. I drink the Bigelow Cinnamon

Spice Herb Tea. Also, I have a Cinnamon Chocolate Gourmet Flavoring that I

add to coffee and/or tea. Even tried it in my oatmeal this morning and it

was good.

Ann, how interesting you doing a sleep study. Do you currently have

problems sleeping at night?

I am not a fan of cinnamon but if it helps (which I don't know yet) control

the blood sugar I can become a fan. LOL

How many people here have been eating the cinnamon?

How long? And has it seemed to have helped?

<I've also been filling 00 gelatin capsules with cinnamon and taking them

three times a day.>

Blain, what a great idea. Where do you get the capsules?

And, when you are doing good eating wise, does the cinnamon seem to be

helping?

How long have you been doing this?

Interesting and useful news!

I cook mainly south asian food, so cinnamon

is easy to incorporate in it. (I also like

oatmeal, so that should tie in nicely.)

Hi All,

I read this in Prevention Magazine.

Drop Blood Sugar With This Swizzle Stick

My husband took 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon daily for 3 months, and his

blood sugar fell from 156 to 112. . . .

But only the low-carb version?

I've been having bran cereal for breakfast and putting a teaspoon of

cinnamon on it (works good with raisin bran also), and that takes a

package of splenda (or two depending on my serving size) and some

soymilk (don't do moo-milk) and that's fine. I've also been filling 00

gelatin capsules with cinnamon and taking them three times a day.

Lately I've been running a little high, but I've been irregular in

taking my herb things and not terribly good with either diet or

exercise, so it's not really a shock (morning bgs of 127-163). Looks

like it's time to repent and sin no more.

I got them at the local food coop (for folks who want to put herbs into

capsules). There are places online you can get them cheaper in large lots.

I can't isolate the effect, but I am keeping morning fasting bgs in the

108-125 range when I'm behaving better.

A couple months. I got a big bottle of cinnamon at Costco, and I'm

about 1/3 through it.

Yep. I'm taking a blend of herbs from Natural Factors called Glucose

Balance. It includes gymnema syvestre, bitter melon, fenugreek, and

some other stuff I don't recall. As I mentioned elsewhere in the

thread, I also take home-made cinnamon capsules. I also take a good

daily multivitamin and chromium picolinate from the Food Coop as well.

Yep.

I didn't notice mine going down all that fast, but it did go down steadily.

I think mine are 200 mcg, and I'm taking one a day.

it!

You can buy empty gelatin capsules online -- there's a guy who has a

little device for filling them that looks pretty good, and the capsule

prices are pretty good also. Look for them in any search engine and

you'll find what I mean.

I take cinnamon with a " cereal " I mix up from ground flax seeds,

nuts, raisins and fake sugar. I eat it in the morning to get enough

carbohydrates to jump-start my brain (about 25 grams of carbs).

I find that -- for me, and possibly not anyone else -- it tends to

stabilize my blood sugars -- that is, they got less high and less low

than they would otherwise. I tend to get lows even without taking

diabetes meds.

Yep have insomonia pretty bad.

This is the 2nd clinical trial I have done - the 1st one in the

Spring was with an herbal based drug - like valerian root.

This one is chemical based and is sort of like Ambian.

They pay well so it's worth my while.

Tried to sign up for a Diabetic one but you have to be obese and I

did not qualify. (Yeah I think :)

I got a phone call for a clinical study for IBS. I don't know what they pay.

They kept asking me questions and they asked me if I would be willing to have

a colonoscopy. I said no, so that was the end of that. LOL. I should have

said yes, because I have to get one in 2 years anyway. So I think I made a

mistake here.

I eat anywhere from 1/4 to 1/3 cup (sometimes more) almost every morning. I

add extra water, Splenda and Cinnamon. I usually have blueberries or an

apple with the oatmeal and several cups of coffee with Fat free milk (before

and with breakfast) and my readings are always normal.

I too would like to use the cinnamon but have a question about the oatmeal.

I just checked my oatmeal box and it say there are 27 carbs in 1/2 cup.

That seems a lot to me. I know, for me, that would spike me way over 200.

How does it affect some of you?????

I would LOVE to be able to eat oatmeal with cinnamon.

My doctor recommended that I eat oatmeal (not the instant kind). I do 5 to 6

days a week. It does help to regulate BGs and I LOVE to eat it. It also helps

with other gastric functions.
