For information about Lotrisone, go to:

http://www.healthsquare.com/pdrfg/pd/monos/lotrison.htm#WHAT.SIDES

If your doctor prescribed this medication I would ask him why. Do you have a

yeast infection? If not or you do not know, I would not use any kind of yeast

medication.

I used gyne-lotrimin and I think it caused me all kinds of problems. But

Lotrisone has other ingredients which could cause more problems. I would

certainly want to know why I was using it. If it is one of those " let's try

this " things - your reaction should be " let's NOT try this " .

I don't have a yeast infection. He thinks the vulvar itching is being

caused by " a fungal infection. " Those were his exact words. I'm aware that

yeast infections are fungal infections and that the same ingredients that

are in lotrisone are in OTC yeast infection medications.

Well, since he's the one with the M.D. after his name and he seemed

convinced that this is the problem, I figured I would humor him. This stuff

is supposed to clear up the itch in 1-2 weeks if I apply it twice daily.

It's worth using it just so I can call back and gloat when it doesn't work.

Probably, but he wasn't that specific. (They NEVER are.) He seemed to

agree with my last gynecologist in that I didn't have a vaginal yeast

infection. My last OB/GYN did a wet prep to see if I had one. There's no

internal itching, anyway. It's all external.

Anne, the problem is that you might be WORSE after using it. I doubt that

would be worth the gloat......

If you really want to try it, I would perhaps not start using it 2x a day,

but rather once a day, or even less frequently, for at least 5 days, to make

sure you don't burn from it. Then, if it feels ok, increase the

dosing.......

And by the way, don't think that just because they have " M.D. " after their

name, and they are CONVINCED they have your diagnosis, that they are right.

I have been told that I DEFINITELY have imbedded yeast, a psychological

problem, and a sexual problem, by M.D.'s when I have none of the above. And

my list is a short one compared to other womens' DEFINITE diagnoses.

Hi Ladies,

Lotrisone was one of the many topicals I tried when I was looking for relief.

My personal experience with it was...stinging....redness....and increased

burning. I paid something like $32.00 for the tube and only used it a couple

of times. It definitely made my problems worse.

Just wanted to share my experience. Remember too, that we are all

individuals here. Just because this happened to me...doesn't mean it will

happen to you.

Hugs,

Carla :o)

This is the SECOND ob/gyn I've seen, and this is the SECOND one who has

prescribed a topical cream. I'm going to at least use it as directed and

let it fail so he can't blame me for not trying.

lotrisone or anything with " sone " on the end of it never did me any good, it

only made the burning worse. i personally hate topical creams anyways, they

seem to cause more trouble than good for me.

I'm not sure what " condition " you're referring to. I just have an itchy

vulva.

most on this list have VV, or vulvodynia, constant /chronic 24/7 vulvar pain

that has no proven treatments. that is why many people urge you to see a

specialized doctor.

Ah. Well, I'm not in pain. I just itch. All the time. Constantly. 24/7.

The itching makes it impossible to have sex since the skin is so

sensitive, it feels stretched and pulled during intercourse.
