Guest guest
I had an experience sort of similar about six weeks after I first started having symptoms. I had this incredible pain and terrific urgency also with a considerable amount of blood in my urine. Or blood instead of urine. I went to my gyn immediately without calling first and gave a urine sample. (The gyn was out to lunch). A couple of hours later I went back to get the results . She took another sample using a catheter and did a urinalysis. She said I had " a lot of bacteria " but after that the pain just stopped and the blood stopped also. It could have been a Struvite stone. Ora >i'm glad to have found this list, although iwish that there was no such thing as vulvodynia. I'm grateful for all of you who have written in, it helps to know that I'm not alone. I started having problems in July,1999.Symptoms began as the worst bladder infection i had ever experienced - almost like an electrical current going through my urethra - i had to void almost constantly. - no infection ever showed up on culture- then clitoral pain started - it was severe - i was eating codeine pills and it wasn't even touching the pain - i could barely even walk - my obgyn gave me a cortisone shot directly into my clitoris because I was in so much pain that I wanted to commit suicide - that quelled the pain gradually. Then i was tested for IC - that made the clitoral pain flare again, I tested negative for ic, though - > > I was still having incredible pelvic and urethral pain , but the urologist I was seeing thought i was crazy, because she didn't see anything wrong inside my bladder- i lived in pain and on vicodin until October, 1999,when i passed a flat bladder stone - I went to another urologist, who put me in the O.R. to check the inside of my bladder and he found a large lesion from where the stone was lodged in the bladder lining and a large area of metaplasia all around it - so he had to cauterize a large portion of the inside of my bladder - you want to talk about having the incredible urge to void constantly for about 8 weeks after that!!! > > well, when i had sex, a couple weeks after the bladder cauterization, i experienced my first symptoms of vulvodynia, although i didn't get diagnosed until May, 2000, by Dr. Horowitz. >i can have pain free sex, but shortly after, i start to burn, itch, have urethral pain, it hurts to sit or walk, I get deep vaginal aching - it lasts for 3 days or so, then calms down to a bearable level, but it never goes completely away - usually the burning and aching is present all the time. - Dr. Horowitz has me on neurontin 600mg. twice a day and says my symptoms will go away , but it might take a year to two years - He said he may have to increase the dosage - I am getting so weary and depressed about this - I want to make love to my husband, but knowing how much agony i'll have to put up with afterwards sometimes stops me. > > I wonder if the bladder stone just irritated my pudendal nerve for so long, that now its completely oversensitized. > >Sorry for being so long, has anyone else had a similar case history or start of symptoms? > >I'm looking forward to talking more to all of you. > >Cheryl

I'm going to journal religiously this week and review what I've done in my most successful weeks. For me journaling is the number one tool for success. As for tips, I've got a zillion of them, but my favorite is frying with ice. I love fajitas and other stir fry kind of meals that use a lot of veggies, small portions of chicken or shrimp and very little olive oil. I spray a good nonstick fry pay with Pam or some other cooking spry or a I use an oil mister and lightly coat the bottom of the pan. First I brown chicken strips, for example. Them remove them and start to stir fry the veggies, starting with onions and peppers first and adding softer veggies like zucchini and mushroosm a little later. The trick is that as the chicken or veggies start to stick, I throw a few ice cubes into the pan and keep stirring. They gradually add enough moisture to stop the sticking, but it's slow enough that the food doesn't get water logged and also helps make a nice natural juice. You add as many cubes as you need or want, just a few at a time so the food doesn't get too wet. I swear it works like a charm and tastes great. I went to WW yesterday and gained a pound. But I went out last night wearing a pair of slacks that didn't fit last wek, so go fugure. I'm having some real problems with constipation and an scheduled for some GI tests in the next couple of weeks. In the interim, if anyone has any suggestions on that front, I'd love to hear it. Thanks, Kate
Guest guest
Oh, too cool! I never thought of using ice! LOL! I have tried adding water, but it does what you said: gets water logged, and then doesn't come out right. I can't wait to try this and make fajitas! I'd go by the fit of my clothes, over the scale, any day, because weight fluctuates, for whatever reasons, but fit is normally pretty accurate unless we're talking huge amounts of bloat. Keep up the good work...I'm sure you'll see the scale displaying happier numbers soon. Guest guest
Hey Ozmee! My sentiments exactly. I don't cheat. I see no reason to make a lifestyle change and then not do it. I don't have a free day, except I don't worry about points on my birthday. I eat low during the week so I can eat high on the weekends, but always it is within points using the bank " legally. " I exercise because I have realized that I am blessed with a body that is healthy and there is no reason for me NOT to give it what it needs. I wish I had done this before. I don't know why I didn't. I wore a 22/24 and am now in a nice comfortable size ten. I hope to lose 10-20 more pounds. I haven't decided if I'm going to stop at 14x or 13x. Whenever I feel comfortable with where I am I will. WW thinks I should be 135, but my body is shaped to carry more fat (curvy, large breasted, etc.). I won't worry about it. I know that no matter what, I'm doing the right thing for my health and my body will tell me when it is at a comfortable level. > Introduction > > > Hi Everyone, > > I have not had the time so far today to do my intro, but if > the baby (grandbaby that is) will let me type, I will try it now. > > I joined WW last October weighing in at 200.4 lbs. Guest guest
Thank you Lori! It does get harder when you lose those 5 points but I found 18-23 points very hard! It takes a lot of doing to readjust your mindset to eating less. You wouldn't think 5 points makes that much difference, and it never did until I got here. but by the time you get to 18-23 you are well able to handle it your stomach will have shrunk and by then you will be experienced with the points real well (probably). When I first got on the 18-23, I found myself eating almost 23 every day! So I had to make some adjustments as to what I ate. They are sure right when they tell you to get up and move around too! But don't think I am any kind of expert, lol I am still learning every day what I can and can't do or eat. Seems to me the ones who are the experts are the ones who have gotten there and stayed there but next week I will get my lifetime key and I can hardly wait! BTW, I am an ex-Floridian Not born in Fl but lived there from age 3-42. I am from Highlands County! Oz Re: Introduction > Ozmee! You have done a fantastic job! You sound very disciplined. That's great. It's easy for me to stay within in my points now since I still get so many. Next week though I should drop to the next level. I guess you just get more creative though so you don't feel deprived. Glad you're here to share your wisdom with us. > > Lori and the Kids > Sarasota, FL > Dalton - Boy Kid > Andele - Dog Fur Kid > Tara - Cat Fur Kid > 206/202/130 - 4 pounds > Back OP since 9/14/02 > > >
Guest guest
Happy Birthday Sandy! Welcome. Glad to hear you found a gym you like. Nothing worse than dreading to go because you feel out of place or intimidated. I belong to a Gold's gym which I always thought was just for hard core body builders. Maybe some of them are, but the one I belong to is great and I love going. Looking forward to getting to know you better. Guest guest
I am new here, so will introduce myself. My name is and I am 53 years old, finishing up with what I call the Menopause Muddle, LOL. I am HypoT, asthmatic, have Fibromyalgia, IBS, and Medullary Sponge Kidney. I also have severe environmental allergies and am chemically sensitive. I just got my Armour, but only 60 mgs., and will soon have my iodine and adrenal supplements to complement it. I have joined a few Thyroid and other groups for support and help and to hopefully be able to help others as time goes on. My doctor is very good, and I have known him as a patient for 25 yrs. He doesn't really like Armour, but since he knows me so well, he is will to give it a shot. My Chiro is getting me the adrenal helps and the iodine to go with the Armour. I have been reading the digests and am impressed with the knowledge here and saddened over the ignorance of our medical profession. I look forward to getting to know you all.
