Guest guest
mentioned, " Our liability is so high in this field... " Actually, the <potential> liability is high, but the actual number of incidents that involve individual dispatchers is very low. Most of those cases are involve what seems to be outright goofs, inattention, willful misconduct, etc. and probably <should> end up in court. Given the number of incidents and telephone calls that are handled each year, the percentage of " bad dispatching " is really, really low. Most states require public agencies to provide legal defense for its employees if they're individually named in a civil lawsuit, so there's no out-of-pocket expense for that. Many states also provide for the public agency to pay any judgements a jury might give the plaintiff. The liability insurance that most companies offer is tuned to the agency itself, not individual dispatchers. Before exploring liability insurance, check with your agency's legal counsel on how much individual exposure you have, and what services they would offer you.
