Guest guest
Taryn, Thank you so much for the wondeful post- I really appreciate your thoughtfulness. You remind me so much of myself, esp. when you describe this journey and all that it is, I always feel like your speaking for me! I am so glad that seeing ' pictures gave you encouragement, I know that seeing pictures of other members children inspired me to continue- esp. when you know that tort is not a quick, overnight fix and you worry on a daily basis about progress/lack thereof. You have done such a great job with educating the masses, and has a wonderful mom that has gone the distance to get results. I wish you continued success and applaud you for being such a valuable, contributing member to everyone- your posts are heartfelt and encouraging, and I'll miss your insight but feel great knowing that you are helping others down this long path. is a doll, and I loved seeing her "grow up" before my very eyes. I'll miss you! 'mom
Guest guest
Hi, Taryn, I was born with what I guess is a mild sensinoral loss. I say guess because my loss wasn't noticed until a hearing test in school when I was in the third grade. My loss progressed downwardly over the years until I had no distinction in my right ear (implanted now) and 13% distinction in my left. (with hearing aid) I DO get benefit from the CI - just not the way I had dreamed it. (perfect hearing) Remember -the dream and the reality may not be the same thing. I'm told I expect too much from this technology. I know that is true - but it's hard not to want what you once had. I had nothing to lose by getting the CI, and I continue to advocate to others that, if in the same position, why not? I do get many more environmental sounds, which help me on a daily basis - and listening with lipreading is a bit easier with the CI. I wish you good luck in your quest for better hearing and easier living! Jackie (Flash)
Guest guest
Taryn - Just a quick suggestion for the co-workers that keep asking how much weight - I would tell them you only weigh on the first of the month, then you only have to announce the weight monthly, and trust me - that first year they will be amazed at how much you will lose in a month period!!!!!!!!!!! Also, perhaps by knowing you do it only once a month, they will lose track of the time and maybe eventually it won't be the " center of conversation " , which is what I hated when I first had surgery. Good luck, L. (Used to be TeacherGator) mgb : July 20, 2000 then: 283 size 26 now: 140 ( +/- 3 lbs either way) size 6 /
