Guest guest
I only had 1 drug test here in Illinois. But when I moved to this pain clinic and told my doc my sob story she did pull all my meds from CVS and Walgreens (w/o my knowledge) and made sure I told her the truth about old meds/doc. Thankfully I did. All I know is.. It's a CHOICE to take that " extra " pill and get high. Everyone keeps feeling sorry for people " hijacked " by these terrible, evil meds.. so a drug addict is more important than a patient? Subject: Rant about TV shows and pain To: " Tetheredspinalcord " <tetheredspinalcord > Date: Friday, November 18, 2011, 5:36 PM I can't help myself.. So I quit my job and have been doing the stay at home thing until I start school, hence the watching TV shows. I am so sick of seeing this bias and constant talk to pain meds and addiction, I'm sorry about I have been on all the big pain meds. I was given OxyContin at age 20 after a exploratory pelvic surgery, and after the 3 days I stopped taking them. I was given Vicodin for teeth at age 18, and I stopped when my tooth stopped hurting. I got off morphine and a (3x times the allowed- SCRIPTED!) dilaudid NO problem before I was dx with TC. How does a 48 year old woman take Vicodin and all of a sudden become a drug addict? And how is the pain medication what is EVIL and BAD here? Call me crazy but I do believe in some kind of responsibility? It is this kind of talk that has doctors doubting patients who really need medication. It is this kind of talk that I have to hide my condition from employers etc because taking pain meds all of a sudden makes me a drug addict. And it is this kind of talk that got my concerns IGNORED for YEARS and almost had me incontinent. My legs are in horrible shape because of this talk. No one seems to take pain issues seriously. We are all just junkies looking for another fix apparently! I am planning to write in to those shows, and if anyone is doing anything else about this, I would like to be a part of it. Guest guest
I cannot feel sorry for the people that choose to abuse these drugs. Being an addict is a choice and the doctor's should monitor the medications to stop some of the people from abusing them. The addicts make it hard for people with actual pain to get the medications they need. I don't quite understand why society feels sorry for the addicts instead of holding them accountable for what they are doing. There are plenty of programs available to help these people, they choose to take the drugs and refuse to get help. By the way there are probably more programs for them than there is for us that have a REAL medical problem. For these reasons, I totally agree with . It seems in our society the drug addict is more important than a patient:( To: tetheredspinalcord From: lilacs007@...
