Guest guest
Joy, you asked if Group duties can be given to someone else. A listowner can give the group to someone else which is outlined in the link below. For the most part, Yahoo Groups is supposed to have a good support team so I'm not sure why you've run into a brick wall with them. There are some custom settings for moderators chosen by the listowner. A moderator can't give their access to anyone else; the owner has to do it. I know there was some controversy for a while about how to handle a group whose owner abandons it. Last I knew, there was a process being proposed that involved Yahoo but I don't know where that stands now. According to Yahoo groups, if you’re the group owner, you must first appoint another owner before you can leave the group. This policy is enforced so that groups are not left without an owner. I'll let you know when I get a chance to have a face-to-face meeting with Yahoo reps but in the meantime, it would help if you forward to me (via email off list) a couple of your communications with Yahoo so far. ~ Liana ~ http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/groups/original/ownmod/starting/ http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/groups/original/members/contact/forms_index.html?last_url=http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/groups/original/ownmod/vsp.html
Guest guest
hi Liana I posted a snail-mail letter to Di Farnsworth today - is a PO Box so no telling if/when she may pick it up (ie not delivered to house address). Can only hope she is still well enough to help us transfer ownership if that's what she's happy with. joy h
