Guest guest
GardenGal, I don't think every person is completely cured. But taking the supplements do really improve our health. It really helps me a lot with my thyroid. I have been taking supplements for a few months now so far I have not had anymore problems. It is an improvement but not completely healed. I would invest on those supplements. Without or the others, I wouldn't have been here or be taking the supplements ... I would have still be sick all the time. I thank and others for their support and understanding. Guest guest
Gardengal, The question is why are we not taking supplement before this happened to prevent this. The supplements are something that we should all take everyday of our life to prevent disease, but non of us knew we were going to be sick so now we have to catch up to get well. The problem lies in our food it is nutrient deficient because of the over farming and the use of chemical instead of organic fertilizers. Thus depleting the soil of essential nutrients for good life! I have heard that some of the people have gotten well using supplements and I sure that they will problem ajust there supplements and take them the rest of there life's to prevent further sickness gardengal13@... wrote: I was wondering if or any other member of this group has had blood tests confirming this supplement program really works? Also for those who have been healed, how long before you were able to stop the supplements and remain well? I'm still on the fence and would like to know how many have actually been healed before I invest the time or money required. Thanks. Make the News Come to you! Thanks. >> Hi Gardengal and Everyone, Many people in the group who have hyperthyroidism have improved and some have been able to stop taking antithyroid medications. One member of the group who had hypothyroidism to the point of being unable to work has recovered completely, regained her life, found a boyfriend, got married, and is now pregnant. Hers is a nice success story and I've been trying to get her to write it to the group, but she is busy enjoying a new life and probably doesn't want to think about the misery she went through. And I can't blame her one bit. Another woman who had hyperthyroidism and was on tapazole has recovered and now left the group. It looks as though when people recover they don't want to be reminded of the pain they went through. Also, it's nice to go out and live life and have fun rather than read about other people's problems. I can understand this very well. Here is her story: Hi and everyone, I've been waiting a while to write this because I wanted to make sure everything was going to remain consistent. So far, so good. As of the first of December I've been off my Tapozole completely with no significant symptoms of hyperthyroidism. Now and then, I'll get an increase in my pulse at night. It's usually tied to something I've eaten. I take more cal/mag and I'm fine. I wanted to let the group know what my supplements are presently - mainly for information. In the morning with breakfast which is usually some granola or fruit I take: 3 mg Copper 1000mg C 25 mg Iron B-50 Complex 500 mg Cal/Mag Citrate 3 mg Boron Amerex Ionic Liquid Minerals Every other day I take 15 mg zinc (I've found through experimentation this works best for me. This is the one supplement I have to adjust according to how I feel.) At night before bed I take 6 mg of copper and 3 mg of boron. I also take a chewable papaya/pineapple enzyme to make sure I'm digesting everything better. And I take an extra 1,000 mcg of Biotin for hair health. My diet consists primarily of salad, fruit, grains (mostly oats and corn), and beans (all varities). I'm back off dairy products including cheese. I just do better without them. I want to thank you, , for all your time and effort. It's really made a difference for me. I want to let everyone know, particularly new people to the group, that this has not happened overnight. I pushed the copper very heavy at first and felt very sick. Even when I felt I had the right amounts, I didn't feel good for a long time. told me this would happen so I stuck with it and it has worked. I did a lot of experimentation with different dosages and times, etc. What I'm doing now is what seems best for me for now. I had a thyroid panel and an estrogen panel done at Thanksgiving. Everything was well within range including my estrogen. I wish I had a baseline on my estrogen because I'm pretty sure it had been low prior to increasing the boron I was taking. The difference is great. I had been getting 2-3 day headaches with my menstruation. Also I was having stronger cramps. All that is gone. One more comment before I sign off. In reading your e-mail, john, about temperature. My temperature has always run low, averaging about 97.6 " normally " . It seems like many hypers are saying the same thing - interesting. Anyway, thanks again! Guest guest
Hi all, I started taking the supplements after being consistently sick with hyper for approx. 2 1/2 years and taking tapazole. The reason I started doing so much research was because everyone was recommending either surgery or radiation and I was scared to do either. I have been taking the supplements for approx. 2 months (I think) and have not yet had my blood tested but I will let you all know when I do. So far this has been my response. My heart rate is still fast, that has not changed. However, I am gaining weight!!!Not that I want to. And I am eating less than I used to. In addition, I am only taking tapazole now about every third or fourth day, I still need the tapazole and by the fourth day I start feeling a little shaky if I don't keep taking it. In 2 1/2 years I was never able to stop taking the tapazole everyday, If I did I would get very sick and would lose 10-15 pounds in a months time, but even that wasn't worth how sick I would feel. I am not sure what is happening right now, but has anyone else with hyper, started having a weight gain after starting the supplements? I have to say that in general I am feeling a lot better. I didn't at first and was losing patience with the vitamins. The negative aspects that I am experiencing are these. The vitamins are too much for me. They continue to make me feel nauseous and I have not yet discovered which vitamins are making me feel this way. So I have started taking the vitamins every other day, , do you see any problem in doing this? I also break out on my face and chest more than ever before. I have read that an excess of vitamins/minerals in your body will come out through your pores especially in warmer weather. Since I have very sensitive skin to begin with I believe this to be the case for me and I need to look for ways to lower the amount of unnecessary vit./min. for me. Any suggestions/Today I was hit with an awful migraine headache, it was also my first day of supplementing zinc, Could that be related to migraines, I don't know what the trigger was. I have a question for the group. Someone else mentioned needing 3 caps since becoming hyper, My teeth just ache constantly, No sooner do I recover from one toothache than I develop another, has anyone else experienced this? As far as my observations of this disease and healing, it seems to me that just taking the supplements is not enough. I think that as we are balancing the nutrients that have been lacking in our diet with vit./min. we should be researching why these were lacking in our diet in the first place, and trying to correct the imbalances naturally in our own diets. I for one have had and still have a very poor diet. I think that eating correctly is key to recovery. There are many good books on the subject, one I am reading now is call Healing foods, and is very good, Thanks for your time, I would appreciate any input, shelley ------------------------------------------------------------------------ eGroups.com home: hyperthyroidism - Simplifying group communications
Guest guest
Dear , Gaining weight is a really good sign, and so is taking the Tapezol every 3rd or 4th day. That happened to me when I was recovering from Graves. My heart rate was lower because I was taking Atenol, but soon I was able to get off of that as well. As you continue to heal, you'll need even less of the Tapezol--just keep getting your blood levels checked. Many of your other questions have been answered by in earlier posts, so maybe you should check the archives (he'll probably answer your questions anyway as soon as he can). And yes, diet is important-- discusses this in detail in many of his posts. Try eating lots of broccoli and tofu, which slow the thyroid, and be sure to nourish your body (knowing you have a poor diet is the first step to changing it). Good luck! Guest guest
hi , My skin reacts the same way yours does. I sometimes wonder if it is the B. Vitamins. If I could pinpoint what is causing my skin problems it would be a God send. I " feel " it is more a hormonal thing then a reaction to the vitamins. However, one can be allergic to the fillers or additives that may be used in some brands. I get nauseous too. What got rid of it for me is this... First of all MAKE SURE YOU HAVE EATEN! :-) The Zinc, especially, and the Iron will BAM hit your tummy and make you want to vomit. It goes away within 20 minutes but phew that hurts. It can also make you feel a tad dizzy. Now when I say, have just eaten. I mean that literally make sure ZINC is taken with food. That helps. In fact I do better if I take my vitamins, etc., at lunch or dinner. That way your belly has been buffered. Make sure it is a substantial meal not just some fruit or just a cup of coffee. Only draw back there is that I forget to take them sometimes. Vitamins seem like such a morning ritual. :-) Also you may want to try right before bed for some. That way you won't be worried about feeling sleepy or nauseous after taking them. --Kathleen In a message dated 6/15/99 4:47:50 AM Eastern Daylight Time, Drisczilla@... writes: << Hi all, I started taking the supplements after being consistently sick with hyper for approx. 2 1/2 years and taking tapazole. Guest guest
I have been in the group since Dec 99 and have been primarily keeping up on all the postings. I felt I needed to contribute since lots of members are concerned about " does it really work " and about taking all the supplements. I had the same concerns at first. In September I was diagnosed with HyperT and was very sick until I changed my eating habits and started supplementing with some of the vitamins (emphasis on the some). I am no longer on the thyroid medication and betablockers. My blood tests are all coming back within the normal range. I was getting tested every two weeks in the beginning. I decided not to just blindly start taking all the supplements recommended. I got the hair analysis done first. From that I found out where my shortfalls were and what I had too much of. From the hair analysis I also discovered that I was not eating properly. I would recommend to all in the group, to get the hair analysis done and then determine what supplements you need to take!! I used 's recommended source and did everything through the mail (Dr. , email: shekinah@...). I feel like myself again. Now on the other side, I do notice that when I don't eat properly for a while and not take the supplements I need my heart rate will be up in the mornings. I use that as my sign to do what is right and usually after a few hours I'm back to feeling normal. I believe it took a long time to get sick and It'll take awhile to get back to normal again. Guest guest
Hi all, I have been with the group since its inception, and while I am not " cured " I am more ambulatory than before, thanks to these supplements, AND the support of other group participants. Reading your progress or lack of it, helps me remember I am not alone. I am about to be tested for lupus, which may be a major reason why my progress is so slow. As I told my M.D. today, I can't lie, I am not totally better and progress is very slow, but I am exercising at the " Y " every other day now, and just graduated from just biking and Nautilus, to include rowing machine and treadmill, so I Am geting there. Guest guest
Yes, I have had blood tests. Just today I learned the chronic and extremely debilitating anemia is better. NOt great but better. Also, my M.D. called me a " strong " person, several times during our meeting today. He's a good guy, and he carefully read the labels on two homeopathic remedy bottles that I showed him, instead of scoffing at them as he might have done last year. (Nat Mur and Phosphorus). He sees the improvement in my countenance, and he knows he has not been able to do much except hold my hand. SO, yes, this supplement is not only helping me get well, it is helping at least one M.D. broaden his perspective, and my naturopath is extremely delighted to have the supplement list as she is hyperthyroid. Guest guest
, Thanks. I do not think you were being rude at all. I have done my research for quite a few months now and am also looking for an alternative doctor. So far I am unable to find someone in my area (New Jersey). My neighbor is a chiropractor and he has no suggestions. I am totally open to any suggestions. I really dread olive oil as a drink. Maybe I'll get brave and give it a try this weekend. Guest guest
The original ultrasound stated " several moderately large calcified stones " . Then when I went to get another one about a year and a half later I got the techs to tell me the size. She said it was hard to tell but that it looked like I had moved a large one out. On my 8th flush I passed two very large stones that I assumed were cholesterol stones. They were about an inch across. They were very firm but not rock hard. I cut one of them in half and it did not look like it was several stuck together. They were green and tan mixed together. Whenever I would do a flush I wouldn't think to look in the bottom of the toilet for heavier stones. So I don't even know if I had passed any of those. From now on I will capture them. I also purchased the Chinese Bitters.I believe my liver to be congested because I would have liver pain when taking several supplements. said that is because my liver is blocked. Sure enough the pains stopped when I stopped taking so many. laura ----- Original Message ----- From: " Feldman, Randi (BIS) " <rfeldman1@...> <gallstones > Sent: Thursday, May 17, 2001 9:56 AM Subject: RE: Does it really work? > I purchased the GCG and the Coptis. Guest guest
I have had liver pain also. I think I was taking too much of the Coptis. I am taking Milk Thistle this week which seems to agree with me. Do you take the Bitters in pill form or liquid. Guest guest
How much of the Coptis were you taking? Maybe you needed the Bitters first to decongest. I take it in liquid form. It was hard for me to figure out what I needed so I called her and she suggested all three. ----- Original Message ----- From: " Feldman, Randi (BIS) " <rfeldman1@...> <gallstones > Sent: Thursday, May 17, 2001 11:08 AM Subject: RE: Does it really work? > I have had liver pain also. I think I was taking too much of the Coptis. I am taking Milk Thistle this week which seems to agree with me.
