weight loss with hypothyroidism

Hi EveryOne,

Being hypothyroid does decrease our metabolic rate and therefore how much

food " fuel " we burn. None of us can eat like we used to before becoming hypo

unless we do a tremendous amount of exercise - and who has the extra energy

for that?

I have found that using the program " Diet Power " helped me a lot. I learned

about it on 's site and put on the Thyroid Epidemic page as well. It

figures out what your own particular metabolic rate is...based on your

weight, caloric intake and what your goal weight is. It tells you how many

calories you burn and how much " fuel " you can take in and still lose weight.

It works! because it takes into account your own personal fuel burning

capacity.

I have lost eight pounds since I started it a few months ago. Not a lot, but

on a good diet you can live with over time with some fruits etc. allowed.

Each day you type in what you eat, and what exercise you do and it does the

rest. Since I am not used to dieting and don't know the amount of calories

in various foods it is both a useful and educational tool for me. It lets

you know how much protein, carbohydrate and fat is in the foods you are

eating each day, week, month, year so that you can make adjustments if you

choose to.

Since it is available with a free trial offer I highly recommend you give it

a try. The feature that takes into account your own metabolic rate is tailor

made for us. No matter what type of diet you go on you still have to keep

the amount of fuel within what you burn or you will not lose weight. Diet

Power very quickly tells you how much you burn and adjusts accordingly every

day: makes keeping track easier to do.

Hope this helps someone else find a way to lose weight and have fun doing it

It still isn't easy but it is possible!

Peace, Love and Harmony,

Bev
