Guest guest
imho. > I LOVE frozen brussel sprouts, but would never do > canned asparagus, i just > eat asparagus in season like now, btw its very low > in carbs. and brussel > sprouts thanks. i hate sprouts and i love asparagus with hollandaise (i noticed that was not included). i got a recipe from either this list, or another, for spinach with something (garlic??) sauteed in. my store didn't have spinach, and i've not found the time yet to go shopping to purchase lots of good stuff (guess i wanted to make sure i needed it all). i discovered i love diet Dr. Pepper, and gonna try the Hansen's stuff later. another question: stuff like eggplant parmesan (prepared). is that OK in moderation? last nite i had steak and salad (with creamy dressing); tonite i'll probably fix a pork chop. what about carrots? i need to read up now, but just struggling today to grope. pat ===== wendy darling-pan aka pat http://www.basketsbypat.com __________________________________________________

Guest guest
What a nat site. What does carbohydrate -by difference mean. I see 1 carrot is like 6 grams? and a large mushroom is .9 grams. E Carrots are a root veggie and thus higher carb. Have you checked out the USDA online site? Gives all the data for many, many foods...URL is http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/cgi-bin/nut_search.pl Easy to use. Check it out yourself, Pat. Also, carrots are sorta high GI index too...check out Rick Mendosa's site (link on our URL). You want loewr glycemic index foods. Generally all root veggies are higher carb and higher GI than the other kind...i.e. spinach, asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, sauerkraut, etc. Vicki

Also, > carrots are sorta high GI > index too...check out i have to tell you folks that i told a nurse today (at the nursing home) about MY list, and the advice. she's diabetic, and has been dealing with this stuff for years, and she wants all the sites and information i've found here. i was telling her about another meter (the one for the forearm) and telling her i was off to get the accucheck (forgot the name; i have the information downstairs), and i'm forwarding her stuff. funny. she was my support system on dealing with all this, and now i'm helping her. pat ===== wendy darling-pan aka pat http://www.basketsbypat.com __________________________________________________

Between you and your body...and you're going to win! Yes, test right before you eat...then test an hour and two hours. write down everything you eat...there you go!
