Guest guest
Just to let you know that I have my prescription for Armour in my hot little hand!!...............I still have to send it to the compounding chemist to be made up. My doctor asked him where he got the desiccated thyroid from and he said the United States! Now................................I have it in a slow release capsule. This is from the chemist in Adelaide. I can also order it from Sydney, which may be different, but I'll go with the slow release and see how I go with it. I get a 3 month supply with 3 repeats. It will cost me $70.00 (Australian) for 3 months, still have to find out if I can get any money back from my health fund, but , hey! if it works it will be worth it.............about $6.00 a week. It will probably be the end of the week when I get it............will keep you posted..............Meleese

Hooray!!! Our fingers are crossed for you!! Sure hope you get some money back from the health fund! Now I am still confused about something. Since Armour by Forest Pharmaceuticals comes already made in a pill, why-oh-why would your pharmacist have to " compound " it?? And you really don't need to do slow release if you have the actual pill. From what source in the US is he getting this?? Something just doesn't sound right here.....And if HE can get it from the US, why can't YOU?? hmmmm Don't let my suspicions get in the way for you. Just go for it. But the way it's happening doesn't make sense.. (You still have those Cherry Ames book, huh?? Isn't it great that we saved some things! I have all my original Barbies, clothes, etc.) Janie
Guest guest
Meleese, I don't know if the below folks can help, or if they are local, but they are listed on the Australia Thyroid site as help for those with hypo. Unfortunately, they may try to tell you that natural thyroid is " dangerous " which is what the Thyroid Australia site has implied, and it's ridiculous. BUT maybe one of them knows more about resources for Armour in Australia, if there are any?? I did not also note in another location that compounding pharmacies import natural thyroid powder and use that. So perhaps that is what your pharmacist uses and is doing!! Guest guest
Yippee! Hooray!!! I'm am so very excited for you Meleese! I didn't know it came in time release, though. Its Armour, that is what is important. Guest guest
TY, Janie................yes, I have those numbers. I did ring Thyroid Australia, and yes, now you mention it, the lady DID have a negative view of Armour.........words to the effect that anyone she knew who tried it, went off it again...it didn't work!. I really feel like Crusoe down here..................alone! It has taken me 4 weeks to get to the stage where I actually have a prescription in my hand! I am using a pharmacy here in Adelaide for my prescription. The numbers you gave are New South Wales and n numbers, I am in South Australia, but it doesn't matter, I have a very good deal for long distance calls with my phone company. I can't find the mail, but some-one wanted to know why I couldn't buy my Armour over the Net....................well, quarantine laws!! Need a license to import anything with animal matter. The web site said basically I can't do it! I guess the compounding chemists that import it, have a license and they would be bringing in larger amounts. If I buy anything over the Net from o'seas in the way of medication/ vitamins, I am only supposed to order 3 months supply at a time! I did buy a number of things from Puritan in their buy 1 get 2 free period, so got a years supply of some things! The parcel had been opened by Customs............there was a sticker on, so don't know what happened there...............maybe cos I only paid for one?? I have found out I CAN claim on my health insurance for the script, so that is good! Lots of other questions, but I'll save them for a separate mail..................Thank you all for being here for me..........Meleese ----- Original Message ----- Meleese, I don't know if the below folks can help, or if they are local, but they are listed on the Australia Thyroid site as help for those with hypo. Guest guest
Thanks, Zina....................hope I did the right thing going with this chemist in Adelaide................if the " time release " one doesn't work, I may try a chemist in Sydney who may have the tablets, as well as the capsules. The Thyroid Australia site directed me to Forrest Labs when I clicked on the link for medications and whatever words they had for " natural thyroid " I am so pleased I found you all. I think I have learned more in the last month than I did in the 10 years since I was diagnosed. Don't know why I took so long to go searching on the Net.................probably I got sick and tired of being sick and tired! I'll keep at this until I get it right!!......................Meleese ----- Original Message ----- Yippee! Hooray!!! I'm am so very excited for you Meleese! It may simply come from the same facility that ALL the pharmaceuticals get their supply from, who then turn it into their own particular form, such as Armour, or Naturethroid, or Bio- throid, etc. Interesting.
