Guest guest
Hi- i am new but I have all sorts of nerve damage, i can tell that I can not pickup things the same way. I drop items. It is really upsetting. E ---------- To: <diabetes_int > Subject: neuropathy in hands Date: Sat, Apr 7, 2001, 9:52 PM For those of you who have it in your fingers (hands) could you please tell me what you do for it? Does it " feel " differently when your sugars are high or low. Right now all I am getting is the tingling and I can live with that... but as I said in an earlier post I am scared silly? Lately my cuticles and area around each finger have been dry and tearing. I use a cuticle oil every night and hand cream all the time. Could neuropathy be the cause of these ugly cuticles I wonder? Guest guest
Have you tried comparing lotions with each other? If you check the ingredients, most lotions contain alcohols... they end up drying your hands out even more over time. There are a few I really like, Nivea, Curel, and Lubriderm, and Alpha-Keri (I like this one the best.) You could get some samples of them or try them at the cosmetics counter or possibly write to the company for a sample and try each one and see how they work for you. Something else that has helped me is to put cold cream or Vaseline on my hands really thick and wear gloves to bed for the night (took me a while to get to where I could sleep that way )) Hope it helps, BarbCat you wrote: > > > > For those of you who have it in your fingers (hands) could you please tell > > me what you do for it? Guest guest
Go to the feed store and get some Udder Balm. Great stuff for hands and feet, and less expensive than most lotions. It comes out to about 50 cents an ounce. Guest guest
I use crisco. No smell, inexpensive. My doctor said " if it is safe enough to go IN your body it is safe enough on your body " . > >From: GayRghts@... >Date: Tue, 10 Apr 2001 05:03:43 EDT >To: diabetes_int >Subject: Re: neuropathy in hands > > ----------
Guest guest
I understand that BagBalm is kind of like Vaseline. Udder Balm is more like hand cream, and it comes in a pump jar. Udder Balm is a very luxurious cream, lemony smelling and thick, but not greasy. If you can't find it in a farm supply store, you can find it at www.jeffersequine.com or 1-800-jeffers in a tube and a bigger jar. (they have a great pet dept. too). I'm not involved with them, just get all my vet supplies there. Great service. Barb
Guest guest
I'm inherently cheap (or so DH says). The tubes (at least at my feed store) were $1 an ounce. I bought a 4 ounce syringe and can refill the tubes from the big bucket.
