Yesterday, I went to a wedding. Beautful wedding, delicious food.

I had 2 meatballs, 2 cocktail weiners, dab of chicken salad, broccoli,

cauliflower, cucumber w/teaspoon of dip 1 cracker, small ham biscuit. No

punch, no wedding cake. 1 1/2 hrs later bg's were 187. Yikes. They would

not have been that high, if I had done some walking when I got home, but I

didn't and I paid for it with a high reading. I got on the treadmill for a

few minutes, then did some walking outside. About 25 minutes later, bg's

were 136. Last night for dinner, it was tortilla chips with cheese, then 2

tacos w/cheese, lettuce, salsa and a cup of hot tea. 2 hrs later bg's were

108.

Hi Dave,

Good to hear from you again, even it was because of your bad day. I don't

know if you have been reading all of the messages, but starting this week,

I'm going to be sending out a " Making a new start " reminder. (After

yesterday, someone should be sending it to me, but I did have salmon for

dinner tonight.) LOL. I'm going to add your name so we can get you back on

track without insulin.

To everyone who has asked for a reminder (and everyone else on the list) the

reminder will be in posted tomorrow, if I can think of something to say. LOL

Hi ,

I walked around in the yard for a few minutes, then cleaned the kitchen. Not

a lot of exercise. Tacos have been our Saturday night dinner for many years.

Hubby always fixes them. One thing I was glad that I did not have to give

up.

Well, I guess I will use the same subject header, since I had a bad day too.

I had an early dinner last evening, missed breakfast this AM, and as of 3

PM this afternoon, I had no lunch yet either, but I took a BG reading and

it hit 264 :- (((

I've been so tired, it took me a moment or two to figure it out, but then I

recalled: I had watermelon at dinner (one of the highest glycemic indicies

of all), a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream for dessert (someone's

birthday -- I skipped the cake -- good boy, Dave ... heh) .... and then, I

almost forgot about the three Oreos I ate an hour or so before I took the

reading. I have nicknamed them " Crisco cookies " , as the filling is pretty

much a gob of shortening with sugar mixed in, lol .... but I still have a

weakness for them.

Anyway, I figured a mere 3 Oreos aren't going to do that to me, so I

imagine last evening's indulgence didn't help any. Still, whether

intentional or not, I pretty much fasted from last evening clear til 3 PM

today, except for the Oreos at about 1 or 2 PM today. Just goes to show,

at a time you think you've done fairly well, it's quite easy to forget

little things along the way, which quickly turn into big things (i.e. BG

readings).

I am wayyyyyy overdue for my periodic check at the doc, and I want so badly

to avoid insulin. I guess I just have to be more conscientious and way

more disciplined. Not always an easy thing to do .....

Hey Dave, hope you made that appointment. I believe you'll be able to avoid

the insulin. Just think you identified where you went off track..that is half

the battle.
